This item is probably not going to work for you. There is so much interference from neighbor dwellings, and inhouse appliances that this has little chance of working well.
I have tried two versions of this gismo. Both were reasonably priced, easy to install, and barely worked. I got such a weak signal that I can do no better than 16k on dial-up.
Money down the drain - should have sprung for a hard wired phone company jack....

The concept of using house wiring for a phone extension is intriguing, but as I have found out, not very practical. No matter where I put the unit, the static is intolerable. However, I did not buy this little gadget for actual phone use, but rather to satisfy the Dish Network requirement to have a connection for data. It does seem to work well for that, so I am able to save the $5 per month charge imposed when you do not have that connection.Customer Review: Wonderful Invention

This product saved me considerable time and expense. I needed a phone jack that was near my TV and satellite hookup. Unfortunately the nearest one was a room away. The satellite people came and estimated the project. They were going to have to run a cable on the exterior of my house for a considerable distance which would show up against the color of the house. The installer recommended a product such as this instead. It works great.Customer Review: It just works...

We needed to get a phone jack into one of the rooms in our home. The jack was to enable the Directv box to get caller id and put it on the tv. Running phone lines would have been very difficult due to the positioning of the room. We ordered these and plugged them in. No fiddling, no fumbling, just plugged them in as instructed and they worked.
Thanks for a product that did as advertised at a reasonable cost.

Purchased in April. After numerous faxes in/out going, they are working great. As I said in a previous review, I have a house from 1954. My wiring is old and not grounded properly. I do have a humming noise in the line, but that's from my house wiring, not the wireless jacks. Even so, the fax works great in and outbound. I was not totally sold on this product, but after a month of constant use, I have to give them a thumbs up!
