Customer Review: Phones Wireless Phone Jack
Summary: 5 Stars

We use this for our Fax machine as we don't have a phone jack near the fax machine. It does work well as instructed.
We had a similar GE product, which stopped working after about 2 years. We had a small surge protector plugged into the outlet next to it and am wondering if that may have caused the deterioration of the GE model. We have removed the surge protector in the other outlet, as this present company suggested to do that in their instructions. These products are very sensitive to lightning, which we get a lot of in Southwest Florida, so I try to unplug it whenever there is lightning.
Too bad they don't make this product for the 4 in one copy, fax, scan, print machines. They have wireless printers, but they can't be used for faxing without connecting to a phone line. I would hope that would be the next new product coming out in the future.

Customer Review: Great for Satellite Plug-in.
Summary: 5 Stars

This does exactly what I wanted it to do: Allow me to plug in my satellite receiver where there was no phone jack. I have about a 30-foot jump across the room and it is making the connection. When I tested for a dial-tone, though, there was a bit of static on the line so using this as an actual "phone" jack, it did not have a good enough connection for me. It may have had a clearer signal had it not had to jump so far. It is, however, accomplishing the task perfectly of allowing me to eliminate the monthly charge associsated with my satellite service if the receiver wasn't connected to a phone-jack. Data transmission (ordering movies, etc.) is fine. I'd recommend for that purpose. If, however, you need a phone in a room, it may not be the best if you have a larger room.

Customer Review: More info on trouble shooting would be great.

I purchased my units for use with a Dish Network Receiver. They were installed per the instructions and were green in no time flat. Using a handset I was able to hear the dial tone loud and clear however when I tried to dial out, I could not. I attempted to hook the phone line directly to the Dish receiver and it would not dial out either. I moved the PhoneX units to different locations and had the same problem.

I swapped out the phonelines on both ends.

Yes they were plugged straight into the wall.

Turning to the instruction pamplet, if they're green they work not much else in the way of troubleshooting. I ended up purchasing a similar RCA model locally that worked out of the box.

Customer Review: Works Perfectly
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed to be able to connect a Dish satellite receiver to a phone line in a downstairs recreation room to avoid the monthly $5 charge Dish assesses if the receiver is not connected to a phone line. We do not have a phone line jack handy to the receiver's location. The local Dish dealer installed the same Phonex wireless web jack upstairs in the kitchen to resolve the same problem. It worked well in the kitchen, so I ordered the same jack for the downstairs receiver. I installed it in a couple of minutes, and it worked immediately. This month my Dish bill was $5 less. Dish somehow knows if a receiver is connected to a phone line without calling or e-mailing them. If you have this particular problem, this phone jack works flawlessly.

Customer Review: Misleading! Not for phone use, data works ok.
Summary: 3 Stars

Although the description says it can be used to "add a telephone to a room" and the technical details don't say anything about it being limited to data, the model I received and the extension jack are both for data only. That means you can't add a telephone. The Phonex box has a photo of the extension hooked up to a telephone and clealy states that it can be used for that purpose, but when you open the box, the base and extension units are both marked "data only" and the reception is all static if you try to plug in a phone. That said, as long as you only need it for data, it works ok. I have it hooked up to the phone line for my DirecTV receiver and another extension unit hooked up to my modem, and they seem to be working fine.
