I was one of the first to sign in with Ooma. I signed on with them shortly after SunRocket went down.
Although rather costly up front, it has more than paid for itself.
Quality is fine. (Like other VOIP's I have used, not better or worse. Some VOIPs claim superior quality. Odd since they use same technology & internet. I suspect claims are fiction of marketing dept.)
Setup was tad confusing. But follow the step by step instructions & you can do it. (ie read instructions! duh!)
No problem hooking into my local 911. Again, follow instructions.
As long as my Cable Internet is up, (99.5% of time), Ooma is also working.
Only downside is that you cannot fax reliably. Also, my TIVO cannot "phone home" to update.
When Internet is down, we use cell phone.

Installed Telo. Devices blue logo flashes as it is attempting to update software. Instructions say this should take 5-10 minutes. This is not true. Talked to their support three times. During these calls they said this would take 4 or more hours. I waited more than 25 hours and the ooma logo did not turn from flashing blue to solid blue indicating the update had completed. Support asked me to shut off my router firewall which would leave me without its protection. They also asked me to connect the Telo to one of the routers four ports instead of between it and my modem as the instructions said to. The instructed in between so as to allow the telo to prioritize incoming calls. Their directions would defeat this. During the 25 hours I could not access the internet or print. As soon as I received the Ooma device, I plugged it into my router. Plugged my phone into the Ooma device, tested it and disconnected my old voip service. I didn't have to worry about anything so far. Didn't have to pay a penny for phone service!Customer Review: NICE !!!

I tried using it with CLEAR internet service first - didn't work, but Verizon DSl works fine with it. So before you purchase Ooma make sure your internet service can handle voice over ip. Just go to [...] and it will grade your internet service. Other than that Ooma works fine, got my number ported and although the quality of voice is not perfect - it's worth not having to pay extra $50 for the phone service every month.Customer Review: ooma system sucks
