Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of NAVGEAR Universal Dash Mount

Customer Review: It really only has a single purpose-- and it's not good at it.
Summary: 2 Stars

I like the review that says "it works in the summer." Except it does not RELIABLY work in the summer, e.g., when the weather is cool or when you have the air conditioner on. Which basically means it cannot be depended on to do the one thing you buy it for-- hold your gps on the dash. It just does not stay put. And I've tried it with different gps units and a number of different dashes. It somewhat work on uneven dashes where you can sort of lodge it in place. But that was on a rental SUV, so it is of overall very limited use. And, therefore, not worth purchasing.

Customer Review: Perfect Portable GPS Mount
Summary: 5 Stars

This very well made and nicely heavy mount for my GPS has been perfect. The suction cup has held onto the mounting plate for weeks without fail. The beanbag type mount fits anywhere on any of my vehicle dashes, thanks to the three ears which can be positioned to fit hills and valley of the dash. It does not slide around, and can be placed out of sight instantly when parking - with no telltake ring on the windshield, like the normal mount. The material is very heavy duty and the stitching very strong and neat. If I were to make one, it would be exactly like this one.

Customer Review: Convenient but slides!
Summary: 3 Stars

This is one of the smaller bean-bag type mounts, and is physically perfect for my nuvi 205W. However on the dash of my 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup, it slides around rather easily. The bottom of the mount does not seem to be the "tacky" rubber as another reviewer said but just plain rubber, with a textured pattern.

I solved the problem of it moving around by placing an anti-skid thin pad underneath, one that IS tacky, from [...] (I have no connection with them except I've bought their products in a local auto parts store). Now it works as it should.

Customer Review: dash mount
Summary: 2 Stars

I like the concept of having a dash mount so that you don't show thieves that you have valuables in your car because you can easily hide it away. The problems with this dash mount is that it doesn't stay in play. I have to move it up closer to the window so that it doesn't fall of the dash board. When you make something that is supposed to not slide on any surface, make sure it doesn't slide then. Mine has fallen off twice with my GPS navigator attached to it. That causes a dangerous distraction while driving. It was $10 so I got what I paid for I guess.

Customer Review: Wonderful item to have for your GPS
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought a TomTom GPS over a year ago and used the stupid system it comes with to attach the thing to your windshield. Horrible situation as the thing would get hot and lose it suction and then the tomtom fell to the floor...ugh. I remembered a friend of mine who had a Garmin and a bean bag type of stand to sit on the dashboard so I found one for my tomtom and I simply LOVE IT! Now, if I can just find out how to get that adhesive piece of plastic that the suction cup had to attach to off of my windshield I will be truly at peace with my TomTom. lol
