Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of NAVGEAR Universal Dash MountCustomer Review: Solid platform but bulky Summary: 4 Stars
Got this as an option for my Garmin c340 auto GPS to be mounted in my 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup. This platform does not slip on the dash, due to its rubberized bottom. It also held the somewhat bulky c340 solid with no worries about potential tip-over. I didn't care for the bulky appearance on my dash and ended up just mounting my c340 to the windshield. But I did find this useful for my Sirius Sportster 5 satellite radio, which does come with a suction mount. I attached the Sirius radio to this and put this in the forward center-console pocket in my 2001 Toyota Sequoia SUV; it works excellent there; its weight and bulk allowed for a nice tight fit and great hold on the radio.
Customer Review: Completely Satisfied Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this on April 9, 2009 and since then using it. My car is Honda Civic 2008. Dash board is not very even. Even though it didn't slide, slip or fell down.
I found, I can place it any place of the dash board because of its flexible three legs, though there are curves over there. I used it with different GPS units and all fitted very well. GPS fits so well that, I always move it holding the GPS and it doesn't fall down.
One more thing, this is not bulky or very heavy. It doesn't look like a big plate or odd like some others. It's very stylish.
Many of my friends, relatives asked me where from I got it.
Customer Review: Neat little product Summary: 4 Stars
Since I work downtown in a meduim-sized midwestern city, hiding my electronic gear before leaving the car is a priority. Removing a suction cup every day is hard and still leaves the telltale "break into me" ring on your window. This dashboard mount has been great. The triangular shape helps it conform to the dash. I fits both my TomTom XL and Siruis Starmate with no problems. I've never had either device jump or fall of the dash. If your suction mount is too low (I'm guessing less than 3/4" clearance) you'll have trouble with installation. Also, if your dash is extremely sloped, you might need to push the mount back occasionally.
Customer Review: no need for a name brand Summary: 5 Stars
I bought one for my Garmin and loved it so much I bought 4 more for my kids TomTom units, it works with any brand. A friend has a name brand and thiers is a bit narrower but slides off their dash when they make turns. I love that I can leave it all hooked up and just unplug my GPS and put it in any other car quickly, it is also very easy to take off the dash to put on the floor when stopping at a store to dissuade would be theives. No mount left on the window or dash to advertise what may be in the glove compartment. It can also hold anything else with a suction cup meaning you can attach a silly bobblehead or a holder for an ipod.
Customer Review: never tips but slides - not tacky enough Summary: 2 Stars
My TomTom has not fallen off the stand and it has not tipped over but after only about 30 days use the stickiness on the bottom seems to be getting less sticky so the whole stand slides on the dashboard if I turn or stop with any force at all. The only saving grace is that I do not accelarate so fast that it falls on the floor but it does slide to the front and sides on turns and stops. I have a similar device for my Garmin (now in use in my wife's car) which after 1.5 years still never slid even an inch so it is definitely possible to have enough tackiness for the device to stay in place if designed right.
