I have owned this printer for four months. I gave it two starts (don't like it) instead of one (hate it) because if I hated it, I would have dumped it instead of figuring out a way for it to work.
When using Vista, I discovered it would not work when used as a shared printer. So I only used it as a direct printer, opening all documents in the computer it is attached to. Not too bad. Then I migrated to Windows 7. And, ... oh, my gosh!
Using it in Windows 7 is really complicated. There are no drivers available for this specific model yet, and that may be cause of the issues, but:
a) It takes some 30 seconds and several false starts before it starts printing, and it seems like it is trying to grab a piece of paper.
b) If I try to use it as a shared printer, the first job will go through and the second one will get stuck.
c) If it runs out of paper, the print job will be stuck.
d) There is no cancel or reset button.
By the way, if you are having issues b, c and d, you should download HP Print Diagnostic Utility. When a print job gets stuck, diagnose the printer, and choose the option of deleting all jobs in the queue. This might work. If it does not, try turning the printer off for 30 seconds and restarting then. You may get lucky. If this still does not work, then restart the computer. That should get the printer working.
Imagine your child's dilemma over showing up late for school with homework, or on time without it. If you want this printer for your home office, picture waiting for the printer to work before you can hit the road for that business reunion with the proposal with you.
This product if not recommended if you have high pressure, stress, or cardiac problems.
And then, the toner costs 66% of the cost of the printer. Refilling cartridges makes the ink sticky, so it is not an option.
I am getting a better printer next year.
