Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of HP LaserJet P1006 PrinterCustomer Review: Dont buy if you print any picture or graphic Summary: 1 Stars
I have purchased many HP laserjet printer for my office works.
I have used many LaserJet 1010, 1012, 1020 & P1006
SO far i notice a huge difference between 1020 & P1006
PROS: For documents both product nice crispy prints & fast printing
CONS: bad for picture quality
For simple picture, photos, graphics
LJ1020 print much crisp & darker. Where P1006 print way lighter (too light to see)
I have change new cartridge and yet still produce same very light picture quality.
(im very very dissapointed). Im not a graphic person where i need very HIGH picture quality,
but sometimes when we print from documents, we still need simple B&W picture if needed.
I will post picture comparison between laserJet1020 & laserJet P1006
Customer Review: Set and forget Summary: 5 Stars
Simply and outstanding B&W laser printer for bringing information off the computer. Easy to set up and is literally set and forget. It is very fast, I have not timed it, but certainly the copy is there when you turn around. Reasonably quiet, not objectionable, just a slight whirring noise. Small footprint and enough weight to keep it anchored. Good paper capacity.
We have two of them, one much older. Recommend keeping an HP toner cartridge on hand because when it is done, that's it - no warning. Runs for a LONG time on the HP regular cartridge. (don't remember how long with the intro cartridge that comes with it, but seemed a good while) Cartridge is not cheap, but definitely worth it for the quality and convenience.
Can't imagine what more one could want for B&W. Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Snow Leopard / Windows 7 Users stay away! Summary: 1 Stars
I have three computers in the house and this printer refused to work on any of them. I tried it on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard and it refused to work out of the box. The HP drivers are non existent, but there are some hacks to get it to work. Not ideal for most people. Next, I tried to hook it up on my wife's MacBook and despite having the proper drivers, apparently, it didn't work either. Last, I hooked it up to the Windows 7 machine I have in the house and same thing... it refused to work. After messing around for an hour I dumped it back in the box and shipped it back to Amazon. I ended up getting an OfficeJet 6000 wireless/Ethernet printer and it worked perfectly out of the box with all three machines over my network. Bottom line, this printer looked to good to be true... it was. 1 Star.
Customer Review: HP should be ashamed Summary: 1 Stars
This printer shares a similar footprint with the Laserjet 1012 and 1022. Do not be fooled! It only has a half size (relative to the others with its form factor) toner cartridge, which costs exactly the same (effectively doubling your cost per page). There are issues where the printer will not print from Microsoft Office on the Mac (but those are are driver issues which will be eventually resolved). I hate feeling cheated, and I am very displeased that HP discontinued the other (full-size toner) printer line without telling the consumer they were getting only half as much for effectively the same price. Find a Laserjet 1012 or a 1022, if you still can, and let HP know that selling half as much value, in a full value size package, for a full value size price is not acceptable.
