I had never heard of DEXIM before purchasing this item, so I had no idea what to expect. What I got was vastly better than what I expected -- a product that is almost up to Apple standards of design, fit and finish.
This mini hub/dock comes with a handful of USB to (mini/micro/whatever)USB adaptor cables, all neatly individually bundled with reusable velcro straps instead of annoying twisties. One of these cables conforms to the recent microUSB format used on recent Kindles and most recent cellphones and similar devices -- so you can probably change someone else's phone while your iPhone is charging. Or a Kindle. Or a digital camera.
It comes with a nice plush bag for stashing the whole assemblage when traveling.
It comes with a beefy-looking 2-port 2-Amp USB charger that is almost as sleek as one of Apple's, and probably more useful. It has interchangeable socket adaptors, and can in principle be integrally adapted to international outlets. It does not come with the adaptors, however. The connection between the charger and the plug adaptor is compatible with one of the standard two-conductor power cable types, so in a pinch you could borrow a line cord and make this thing work.
The "dock" base has a cleverly adjustable back-rest that lets the dock be used with pretty much anything with a 30-pin connector on the bottom. No inserts to swap out.
The dock is just heavy enough to keep it in place when inserting and removing the phone, but small enough to pack easily.
And there is a SDHC card port on the side -- so you can (in principle, I haven't tried this) connect this dock up to your laptop, and transfer stuff from your iPhone to an SDHC card all via this product.
And there are pin-point LED status lights to let you know about the various connections to the dock.
At the MSRP of $55, the quality and features wouldn't be exceptional. But at the Amazon price of $15, it's a steal.
