Customer Review: Great Dock, Buy it, but Remote HAS to be pointed at dock

This is a great product, works 100% of the time, and the constant power to the zune to keep the battery charged has not diminished my batter life at all, so don't worry about it. I use it in my dorm room all the time, and it is great to have so other people can interact with it via the remote - which is magnetic, so you can stick it to anything metal, which is super convenient and awesome.
My only complaint is that the remote doesn't seem to have the range that a typical tv remote has, and you have to point it directly at the dock from In Front of it for it to work, so that is kind of annoying at times.
Even with that considered, this is still a great product and def. worth getting, also because then you have a wall charger for your zune then! (you can plug the usb cable right into the zune from the wall adapter to charge it) You can also plug the RCA cable into the headphone jack to view on the tv with the dock, so it is like a 3 for 1 deal.

I just bought two of these to go with my new 80gb Zune (which is wonderful). I was hesitant about buying them as I kept reading the docking station isn't compatible with the 80gb Zune. It is.
When you get the docking station, you will notice a small slit on the inside wall of the remote slot. Slip a knife or screwdriver into the slot slightly and pull up. The mirror cover pops off. Underneath it is solid black so it doesn't look like you took it apart. Without the cover, the Zune slot is big enough to fit the 80gb Zune perfectly.
The only thing that is different than using the Docking Station v2 is that the video connection is composite rather than component. If that doesn't matter, you'll get more bang for the buck by buying this version.
My second docking station and remote will be used in the car with a car charger and hookup to the stereo - just pop in the Zune and go.

I bought this mainly for a docking station for the PC so that I wouldnt have yet another usb sync cable to sort through. It works perfectly for that, and just convinced myself to order 2 more. One is for the bedroom, so when I want to fall asleep with the headphones on, I can just setup a playlist and drop it into the docking station hooked up to my little dvd/stereo/etc combo unit in there, without having to burn a new cd and playlist. I could just take the zune to bed, but worried about it getting knocked about when I fall asleep with the headphones on and roll over. The other one is for my little woodshop. I can set it up so my little tv can view tv shows I dump on it from my htpc, and I dont have to worry about sawdust getting on the cd's and in the dvd player. Very handy little thing, and beats the heck out of paying 100 bux for it at Best buy or CC!Customer Review: Great Investment!

I purchased this Zune Home A/V Pack from Amazon on 11/6/07 at about the same time I purchased my Pink 30GB Zune (also from Amazon). My brother, who also has a Zune, couldn't get over the great deal I got on it (it retails for around $[...])!
So far, the main things I use are the docking station and charger. I'm looking forward to trying the cables with my stereo system. (I must warn you that it usually takes me several months to start using a new product!) I'm not a huge "music" person and don't do much with my stereo, but my brother uses his setup all the time. He loves it, too!
I've seen two types of docking stations and the one that comes with this pack is classy! I like the clear covers that come with the USB cable, too. They cover each end when it is not in use.

I just purchased this gen 1 av pack from shop cell. It arrived promptly and in good condition. It is a must have accessory for my gen 1 zune 30. I don't use the video output, but it is pretty neat. This product really feels like it has a nice build quality and "heft" to it. The base stays put on the table with your cables even when you put the zune in and out. The remote is really nice. The buttons function just like on the zune. Very good deal combined with my $99 gen 1 zune and cheap old computer speakers. Awesome internet connected stereo system for less than $150 total! I think you are getting a really good deal for this package because it has been discontinued because the base does not fit right with gen 2 zunes. But if you like to get great deals it sounds like you can take off the top casing and fit gen 2 zunes, no problem.
