Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Zune Home A/V PackCustomer Review: The best Zune Accessory Summary: 5 Stars
This is pretty much the only thing a Zune owner should buy besides a case for their zune.
I paid $30 and got free shipping. Buying these items separate would cost over a $100. I needed a charger because my comp is downstairs.
I came across this, not only does it have the charger but it also has a cradle that is compatible with the computer and a spare USB cable, a A/V cable which plugs directly into the cradle and a remote to control it all.
I was amazed at the cheap price.
I got a zune 30GB it works great on it. Videos are not bad at all, very watchable. The radio for some reason only works on one station...
When viewing pictures, they are crystal clear.
The remote works great and is basically the zune controls in your hand. Everything on the zune comes up on screen.
Again this is a must have for any zune owner.
And for people complaining about not working with 80GB, it obvious you did not read the directions because it says right the slot on top can be removed for next gen zunes but they obviously didnt read them and then complain that this thing stinks.
I just wanted to say this does work with 30GB and 80GB.
There are web reviews that even show it. Dont listen to people that say it doesnt.
Customer Review: This thing is a little spendy but worth every penny. Summary: 5 Stars
I was a little nervous about spending this much when i could really just get by with a $5 3.5mm A/V cord that i already own. Having said that, now that i have had the home kit for a few weeks, i am so glad i decided to buy it. I should have ordered it with my zune!
It is a solid dock and doesn't feel cheap. Everything that comes with it seems to be of superior quality when compared to cheaper no name zune accessories. I thought about just getting the dock but when you add in the price of a good AC adapter (the cheap one i bought broke in two days), an extra sync cable, a good set of A/V cables, and the remote - it just makes more sense to buy the kit.
The main reason i wanted this was to be able to control the zune from the couch with a logitech harmony remote I also bought from Amazon. If you don't own a harmony i suggest you get one NOW. The remote that comes with the home kit is great but it is rather small and using separate remotes for every device in your media center is a crap substitute for having something like a Harmony.
Overall i am very happy with the home kit. It lets me listen to music over my home stereo while the zune display is on my TV and control it all from the comfort of the couch.
A+
Customer Review: Zune docking station Summary: 4 Stars
I searched the internet for a mini-stereo system with a Zune dock port for my daughter to use. Since there are only 3 out there, and they are either cheap sounding or they are too expensive to try (plus, they do not play CD's), I decided to go with this home a/v pack. I figured that way, she will be able to keep her Zune charged (which was becoming a major pain), plus I could pick almost any mini-stereo system since almost all have a line-in jack, plus she could preview songs from a CD before I take the time to copy them to her Zune. What I am most tickled about is the fact that the sound level when connecting the dock to the line-in jack of her stereo system is equal to the sound level of a CD (I was worried because I had been shopping in the local stores for a mini-stereo system and using my mp3 player with a line cable from the head phone jack of the mp3 player to the line-in jack of the stereo's. Almost all were way lower in volume even when I had the mp3 volume almost all the way up.
We have not had any luck getting the remote to control her zune (thus 4 stars instead of 5), but that is not a big deal. I probably could figure out the issue if I would take the time.
I highly recommend this home a/v pack for all Zune owners.
Customer Review: Not half bad Summary: 4 Stars
At first I was frustrated...it didn't come in the expected package and I received a zune "bag" with it. But whatever, it came with what I was really wanting (dock, remote, cables).
At first it was really frustrating, the zune 80gb wouldn't fit inside the dock. I took off the top cover on the dock (which was a little frustrating to figure out, I had to take a pair of scissors or something to push the button in or something, which is behind the remote I think, I don't remember). After that worked, I had to really work with the zune to figure out the angle at which it has to stand to fit in, but rest assured, the 80gb will fit. Then I hooked it up to my TV, couldn't figure out how to hook it up to my computer speakers :( and turned it on. Cool, the remote didn't work. I went out, bought a new battery and thus the remote began to work.
Sound quality, whether it be from the zune, the cables or my older TV is not so great, but it's definitely liveable. All in all, I'm happy with the buy. The dock also doubles as a charging station and when hooked up to the TV, you can have the TV as the output. You can play music, put your pictures on a slideshow on the TV or a movie you have on your zune, or just have the music screen.
Customer Review: Zune home A/V Pack- It doens't get any easier then this Summary: 4 Stars
Hooking the docking station up to the home A/V system is simple and direct, 1 wire split to a 3 way RCA Plug to the Reciever and one to the power source and you're done. The 3 to 1 A/V Cable is good quality and not a cheaply done run of the mill cable.
Once hooked up the sound was on par with any CD player, I couldn't hear any signs of hum or interference from it.
I thought some sort of power LED on the dock would have been nice, but it doesn't have one. It is a very simple set up; no bells - no whistles, although the mirrored metal finish on the Dock is a pretty nice touch.
The dock itself has a very small footprint so it is easy to tuck into small spaces in just about any home theater cabinet or someplace on a shelf. You'll hardly know it is there.
My only real complaints with it, is that it seems the kit was shipped with a dead battery, the remote for the dock didn't work at all out of the box. That one thing brought my review down some.
Other than the battery issue I encountered the kit works as advertised, it's easy to hook up and makes your Zune a great part of your home A/V system with minimal fuss.
