Customer Review: Won't buy another

I liked it when it worked. Unfortunately, that was less than a year. It completely quit working. I am assuming that it was a dead battery, but since Microsoft states that the battery cannot be replaced, you end up with a paper weight when it goes.
The Marketplace is kind of a scam. Basically, you "rent" the music you "buy" for a fee each month. When you cancel your membership, all of the music you "bought" is no longer yours.
I suggest buying the docking station should you decide to get one and make sure it has the remote, so you can listen to your music through your stereo and charge it at the same time.
It would be more convenient for me to buy another Zune, but I do not trust them, so I am replacing it with something else.

I've owned the Zune 8 for less than a year and I'm just about to send it off to the Zune people for a second round of repairs. First time the Zune died and wouldn't turn on. This time around it keeps rebooting and the back button has stopped working. I'd chuck the thing in the garbage but I've invested a lot in Zune accessories like cables and a sync station. When it works, it's a great player. Ideal for those who want to spend $200 on something that you have to send in for repairs twice a year.
Update: Well, the Zune is now out of warranty and has stopped working for the 4th time. I only just got the thing from the Zune hospital a month ago. iPod Touch here I come. Congrats Microsoft, you just turned your last fan into an Apple consumer. Sigh.

This product is a decent music player... when it isn't interrupting your favorite song with one of it's random reboots.
You'll be blissfully jamming along to your favorite song and then--bam--the Zune goes silent and a moment later the boot-up screen shows.
Not only does the device reboot while playing songs downloaded from the Zune marketplace, but it also reboots frequently while simply playing the FM radio!
My red Zune 8 GB started with this behavior within the first day.
I'm so frustrated with the darned thing. I've tried wiping it and reinstalling the firmware, etc. but nothing seems to work as the random-reboots inevitably resurface no matter what.
Don't buy this!

The first Zune I bought was the 4gb version. I noticed it had a screen flicker, very subtle, but irritating. I exchanged it for the 8gb model I have now. All this was about 6 months ago. My Zune spends most of its time in the Belkin Armband specifically designed for it. For charging purposes, I have a dock station that plays the music also. I can create playlists, add/delete media, update software, and view memory capacity WIRELESSLY! I don't have to connect it to the computer unless I want to change wireless routers! The zune has held up well to working out and all the moisture. I did buy a pair of good ear buds to enhance the sound quality. So far, this little magic box has proven itself well-worth the cost.Customer Review: Overall a great product

I got the 8gb red zune for Christmas 5 months ago. I haven't had any problems with it other than running out of memory because of my thousand some songs. The Zune Pass they offer is a steal. Practically unlimited downloads for 14.99/month with only a few artists not supported. I have yet to have any problems with my device, just the accessories. The headphones they give you are ok, but you can get better for ten bucks at wal-mart. My USB connector had one of the parts fall off so for me to be able to remove my Zune from the cord I have to use a pen or something small. But overall the Zune is a great product, comes with 5 games, limitless downloads for $15, and just a lot of great music.
