I got this Mp3 player to replace a dead iPod nano 1st gen, i have had the nano for a long time (4years) and it was a good player, i got it as a gift so i cant complain about the price. but the Zune is a great competitor, the software is great, and interface and the quality of the audio and video are out standing, the price is remarkably lower than the competition.
and the Zune software is ALOT better than iTunes, at least for me.
i would highly recommend this to anyone.
the only bad thing is that you have to hold down the play/pause key for a couple of seconds to send the device to sleep and is not automatic like the iPod, so you end up forgetting it on and loosing alot of battery. nothing that cant be fixed by a firmware update in the future though

Purchased this for my husband in October, his first MP3 player. We were very excited, as my son has a Zune (older model). Everything was fine, somewhat, initially. The battery didn't seem to hold a charge from the beginning. But we kept trying different things to make it work. Eventually, after about two weeks the player didn't work for more than 20 minutes at a time and was constantly rebooting. Also, our software didn't recognize the player when plugged into the usb port. We tried everything and since we already had another Zune in the household that worked fine, we knew it wasn't the computer or software.
Zune website for troubleshooting is worthless. Eventually had to return the item and we are still shopping around for the perfect mp3 player.

I have iPods and decided that the iTunes software rendered them too difficult to use on my PC; iTunes also does not share well with others. This negative opinion is contrasted to the Zune software which slows down my computer, permanently renames directories, is slow and negates much of the drag and drop functionality. I hate to open the Zune software as it is so hungry for attention little else runs and and when songs are finally loaded, a reboot is necessary. If iTunes is annoying, Zune software makes one wonder if a virus has taken over.
The Zune's player controls are good, the sound is good but not quite up to Apple's standards. I kept the thing after very seriously considering sending it back.

I bought two Zunes, this one and a 120 GB for Christmas gifts. The price compared to the GB makes this one's value less to me. I got a good deal on it but generally when I shopped for it the cost was only about $50 difference. I bought mine in a package deal though and so the value was not so bad. Still, I think that for such a big difference in GB it should not be so close in price. My daughter loves it though and for younger people 16 GB is plenty! We have the 30 GB as well. It depends on how much space you think you'll need and your budget. Overall, I think that the 120 GB is the best value when you compare what you get and prices. Shop around though and you'll get a good deal with extra items included!Customer Review: Sad

I received this as a gift for Christmas and it seemed like it was going to be an easy to use and easy to sync to my computer. I plugged it in and the back light on the device was not working and it has to be sent back for a new one. I however was able to sync it up to my computer easily, and moving the music and videos on and off of the device was very easy with the Zune software. The sounds with the supplied headphones are mediocre at best. I would suggest looking for a better set of headphones. I contacted Amazon and let them know what the issue was with the backlight and they have shipped out a new device and it should be here in a few days. I have to say Amazon made it easy to return and replace.
