I like to give anything the benefit of the doubt, but I went through 2 of these in about 3 months. The first I received for Christmas. I was very excited to have the technological capabilities on par with the ipod but with an FM tuner, as I sometimes like to listen to my morning talk radio show while jogging. The first one I had did not have a functioning backlight, so you could not read the screen unless you held it at just the perfect angle. My second one seemed to work great for about 2 months, then one day just stopped working altoghether with no real explanation. So, I instead got an ipod nano. It is of sturdier construction and just seemed to be better made. It is a bummer that there is not a product out there that has both the functioning of an ipod with the FM tuner that the Zune included. In theory it's a great product, but just doesn't have the quality the Apple product provides.Customer Review: Sex in plastic

Very sleek and stylish MP3 player. The first one came DOA, but Amazon rushed a replacement so it would be here for Christmas (given as a gift). DOA aside, it seems to be a very solid unit. 16GB is great, although I also like my Sansa Fuze because it has the mircoSD expansion slot to make it as big as you want, or have a library of itty bitty "CDs." The interface is much more intuitive and less annoying than the iPod (watch the MacBook Wheel video if you haven't yet!). $15/month instead of $1/song seems like a great way to build a library and explore new artists too. Haven't witnessed the benefit of the community feature (connecting to other Zunes in network range), but being able to connect to your computer/home network with wifi is pretty awesome. Can't wait to see how it works with the roommate's XBox 360 as well. A great player. I just traded in my 8gb zune for a 16gb and I love every minute of it. This product is completely flawless and the quality of the product is absolutely beautiful. The features are incredible and the video quality is phenomenal on here. If you love music of all types and you are on the go...upgrade to a 80gb to get the best of this product, but my zune gets the job done with space to spare!!! I highly recommend this product to anyone that loves mp3 players and this is the definite one to buy and microsoft is always the best in the business with electronics of any kind. I had a Samsung YH-925 and Samsung T9 and they were okay until they just stopped working and then just when the new zune was released. I grabbed late that night at 430am in the morning haha :). I love everything on this Zune and just check out the other reviews and you will see its the best MP3 player on the market!!!!Customer Review: Such a disappointment

I was really looking forward to this player. I downloaded the program before I even received it and looking forward to hearing all this great music, not to mention downloading my 10 free songs every month to keep. I bought a bunch of MS Points so I would be ready to get songs and videos for my new player. And then, I got my Zune and the headphone jack was bad so there was no sound. Rats. I sent it back with no problems and Amazon sent me another one immediately. I got it the same day I sent the bad one back. This turned on once. Then, it stayed dead. Black screen. Forget this. Like my favorite clown once said, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...shame on...shame...well, we won't get fooled again."
I sent it back. I don't want an Ipod. I already had a SanDisk. Guess, I'll just use my phone as a player.
Thanks Microsoft. Not.

After loading 10 gig of music the unit locked up. None of the navigation buttons worked and I couldn't get off the song it was playing. It was stuck in a continuous loop. I tried all the described reset functions to no avail. Its hard to believe Microsoft would make a product without their most important key stroke combination, Ctrl Alt DeL. When I packaged the item for return it was still playing U2 War. I realize there is a bad apple (Microsoft) in every bunch. I haven't decided if I will give Zune another try. I much prefer it over Apple since its not so proprietary. If my next experience is more positive. I will update at that time. I'll give it two stars because I really enjoyed our brief time together and after-all, it is a MS product so I am used to my expectations being crushed.
