I've had this for many months. I loved this product--handy and digitally simple.
Last week I needed new AA batteries for my remote, so I checked some loose ones in my battery drawer. They were all showing weak, so I tossed them. Then I broke into my box of new batteries, and they were showing weak too! I was pissed, because they weren't supposed to expire for 3 more years. I took the batteries back, and I showed the girl at the counter the low reading. She too was impressed with this little battery checker, and refunded my money.
Today I got a new new box of batteries, and just to assure myself they were good, I tested them. They tested just as weak as the old new batteries, so I (finally) pulled out my multimeter. The battery was putting out over 1.5 volts--GOOD. I'm really really disappointed, because I liked this handy little unit, and counted on it for about a year. But the readings for AA batteries is way off, and I don't know how many perfectly good batteries I tossed without double-checking.
Normally I would donate something like this to charity, but I don't want to give anyone else bogus readings, so I had to throw it away. Ouch.
Maybe mine was defective... maybe they never calibrate them... I don't know, but if you buy this, you better double-check the readings!
