Customer Review: Better save your money
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought it since Belkin's Flywire had died; yet I believe it was a true waste of money.

Pros:
Okay, 1080i with a Sony Blue Ray Player (BDP-S550) works and it works well; the range is okay as well - at least in my house. So if you plan to use 1080i with your maybe new Blue Ray player only (!)....; you may consider this a deal.

Cons:
RGB connections (except RGB connections from Sony Blue Ray player which is HDMI connected anyway) are practically useless. It did not work with Sony HDD player/recorder (RDR-HX910), it did not work with Denon DVD player, it did not work with a SAT receiver, it did not work with cable receiver, it did not even work with Denon AV Receiver when distributing TV signals. All those connection attempts produce resolutions the guy cannot handle....
Solution: connect whatever TV and/or Projector you want to connect via RGB cable - what a joke.

1080p is not! Unless you own a player that can produce a 1080p 25/30 Hz. If you know any player that can be manually set to those values, let me know please.
Solution: connect a High Speed HDMI cable as before and forget 1080p wireless.

Last not least the channels keep on switching (searching input sources) whenever you change sources, and it always remains on the wrong, i.e. unused input source - nicely blinking in blue. Better program you remote to keep on switching back - frequently!

All in all nice looking, nice appearance; yet completely unusable for high quality connections and all input sources but HDMI 1080i.
Better save your money and wait for a good product that works.

Customer Review: Worked perfectly, for 3 hours!
Summary: 2 Stars

Hi

Plugged it in, worked out of the box with component.

Then after about 3 hours, the rcvr started fast blinking power/"3" source. Then another 30 seconds, it turned off

Went down to the transmitter, it is blinking the "3" source 3 blinks/sec, means can't see source. Plugged same component into a tv, with 50' cable, works fine.

Tried it in port 4, same problems. I don't see anywhere that says the rcvr should turn off, so I think the transmitter blew out.

I have written the makers for information what to do.

If they resolve it or it works, I'll rewrite my review.

**UPDATE** They did send me a new unit. I plugged it in and it did the same things the other did. The tx unit locks up requiring power plug off/on. I talked to the manufacturer and they told me that you really need 3 bars signal strength, I said I had 2 and it was only 8 meters apart. 2 floors down! That when he said there really cannot be any obstructions. And I then reminded him that the manual/description says 10 meters thru walls, and 20 meters Line Of Sight.

He looked and said that was NOT AT ALL how it is supposed to be described. And signal going thru floors is not supported. He say YOU MIGHT get away with going though thin walls.

So, my 2 week experiment ended in failure, I'll be returning the unit. I see it ok for use to stop the wire clutter going up to a tv hung on the wall, but thats it.

I finally spent yesterday and ran 2 ethernet wires to connect HDMI thru those using HDMI Baluns with Cat-5e cable the medium instead of HDMI wire. This works like a champ!!!!!!

Customer Review: power cable is sub par but device functions as desired
Summary: 4 Stars

This wireless transmitter is good so far but there is one thing that really caught me by surprise. The power cable is way too short. Not only is this short but it also has a two-prong connection that will span 2 outlets because of the size. Very inefficient design. I had to get out a large power cable out of my stash which could handle this beast as an add-on to what I already had in my surge protector.

The brite-view transmitter/receiver set does what it says it will but not as well as a hdmi cable (expected). Now I can do 1080i@1920x1080 rather than 1080p@1920x1080. I have my laptop hooked up at the breakfast bar with the transmitter right beside it. About 7 feet away is the receiver sitting on the mantle below my tv mounted above the fireplace. Now I can run the hdmi cable without an unsightly cord which is easy to trip over and break things.
---> 2 things to note when I am using this brite-view device:
1. My Sony Bravia tv was displaying that it could not detect audio from my laptop's NVIDIA hdmi out upon connection. Audio works fine for me so the video card must be hallucinating.
2. I cannot resize the display output from my video card onto the tv via the brite-view. I could resize the display with a hdmi cable so I will experiment with this resizing wireless. I want to be able to resize the NVIDIA output like I could with a hdmi cable. Some of the picture runs off the screen right now but I can put up with it since it is not a lot which is lost (for some reason I have to set my laptop's hdmi output to 1810x1000 to get my tv display to display in full).

Customer Review: Good idea - not well implemented
Summary: 2 Stars

I ordered the Brite-View BV-2500 Wireless HD package in order to get a video feed from my bedroom to my bathroom - a distance of under 20 feet. The manufacturer claims a "line of sight" range of 70 feet and a "non-line of sight" range of about 35 feet.

Unfortunately, when I hooked it up, I received almost no signal on my TV. I experimented a bit, moving closer and closer until I got a reliable signal, and what I found is that I could never get a "non-line of sight" setup to work, no matter what the distance.

Even with the transmitter on one side of a wall, and the receiver literally inches away on the other side of the wall, I could barely get a signal. My home is of fairly conventional wood frame construction, so I don't believe it's just me.

I played with "line of sight" and it seemed to work somewhat better. I could get a signal out to about 10-12 feet. From 12 to about 15 feet the signal quality began to degrade, and over 15 feet, I'd get erratic performance with pixelation, picture freeze-ups, loss of sound and so on.

Of course it occurred to me that if it only works short distances and with no obstructions in the way, it would probably be better to use a long HDMI cable and save quite a bit of money.

Overall, it seemed like a quality product...easy to install, well built and so on - it's just the range that seemed to kill it for me. Would be a four to five star product if it gave me the range I needed, but as it is, I had to return mine.

Perhaps the next version will be better.

Customer Review: Finally, an inexpensive HDMI wireless Transmitter
Summary: 4 Stars

I was also waiting for the Belkin FlyWire (not the firefly that was mentioned in a previous review). The cost was $1,500. Never made it into production. The Gefen product is $800. The Brite-View is $340.
I am transmitting from a bedroom with a DirecTV HD receiver to a Samsung TV in the kitchen for a distance of 25 feet on the same floor. The connection is an HDMI cable from the DirecTV HD receiver to the Brite-View transmitter and an HDMI cable from the Brite-View receiver to the TV.

Pros:
It works! Cannot tell the difference if were connected
directly to the HD receiver.

I use the DirecTV remote to control channel changes and all
DirecTV functions.

No need for the remote provided, if you are using it for one
source. I don't shut the Brite-View units off. They are on
all the time.

HDMI cable included.

Hooked up in a matter of minutes.

No additional DirecTV receiver cost and monthly fee.

Cons:
Interference from microwave. When the microwave is on the TV
will go blank. After the microwave stops the picture will
return but the voice will be out of sync with the lip
movements. You have to turn off and on the TV in order to
sync.

Using the DirecTV remote there is a greater pause between
functions. You have to be patient when changing channels or
using the guide.
