Customer Review: Durable but ruins the smooth glass feel of the screen

BASICS: I ordered one of these using a $25 gift card I received for sitting through a demo of their ZAGGBox device at EHX last month. Had I paid full price, I would have been fairly quick to send it back for a refund. I've had it on mine for two weeks now and am still giving thought to removing it, as it ruins the feel of the smooth glass screen (as other reviewers have noted).

SIDE NOTE on the people who make these: ZAGG started their ZAGGbox pitch with a brief description of how Zagg made their money: they sold the polymer they use to make their screen protectors to the government to protect the leading edges of military helicopter blades from the sandblast effect experienced when they land in desert terrain (basically a "helicopter blade protector film"), which they then realized could be used to protect smartphone screens without interfering with the touch functionality. The pitchman claimed that they have a loyal following of ZAGG devotees, but how anyone who makes screen protectors can have people feel that passionately about their company is beyond me. They have, however, been successful with the screen protector business, and now they are trying to create a $3000-$5000 device which will "replace your TiVo, Apple TV, cable box, and universal remote". Pretty ambitious to say the very least, as I told them when asked for my opinion after the demo. The ZAGGbox is vaporware right now, but it will supposedly be released "this summer" and sold either to custom integrators (we are rarer and rarer these days) and/or at BestBuy. ZAGG seems to specialize in leaping from one random market to another, but they must be great businesspeople, because they haven't gone bankrupt yet.
BACK TO THE REVIEW: I agree with the other review--the film adds a "stickiness" to the interface which takes away the smooth, slick feel which is an essential part of the iPad experience.
Another problem with it is the size--it's just slightly too big. The front protector is actually a couple millimeters too large. When you line up two sides, say top and right, you end up with an extra bit of plastic hanging over the left and bottom sides. I had to take a razor blade and trim off the extra to make it fit, which was a difficult exercise resulting in--paradoxically--scratches to the front of my brand-new iPad.
Regarding application: it is not easy. If you have ever applied tint to a window, imagine doing that except with the Zagg film, once you spray the liquid onto the glass and apply the film it sticks like a sticker to the iPad screen instead of being able to be slide around into the correct position the way tint does. It's a very awkward process, and I had some trouble with it.
I will say that once I got it applied the bubbles disappeared in a day, as advertised, and I'm now left with a very clear screen protector, albeit one with a "sticky" feel.
What I've never been entirely clear on is why you need a screen protector for a glass screen in the first place. I have had my iTouch for more than two years without a screen protector, and while I do wish I had put one on the shiny polished metal back when it was new (because now it is a scratched up mess), I don't have a single scratch on the screen. It is hard glass, and seems to me you would have to rub it with sand to scratch it. Being in my pocket with keys many times hasn't hurt it a bit.
Overall, I expect to remove this at some point, after I determine what kind of glue or residue it will leave on my screen. If it will come off cleanly, I will certainly get rid of it at some point.
