Micro Inverter saved the day. The sound it makes, a slight whirring is easily drowned out by a CD playing the front part of the car while the children quietly passed the time watching movies on a long trip s. Great product to have in the car at all times. I bought this to inflate our raft on a day trip to Colordado. The raft is medium quality and I was willing to shell out extra money for an outdoor so thia top of the line pump . Well the raft worked really well. The product is a real Life saver! The car charger fuse must have died on our portable DVD player on the 12 hour drive up to Co.Customer Review: Not enough power for me

I bought this after reading the reviews that said it was fine for powering a laptop. While that is true, for my Macbook Pro it won't power it when the laptop battery needs to charge. Since that's not always something you can plan for, it's basically useless for laptops.
I ended up buying the Xantrex 400W inverter, which is plenty of power for charging the laptop battery from the cigarette lighter.
As for the performance of the unit in general, it was fine, and the fan noise is nothing to be concerned about. Once the car is moving, you won't be able to hear it.

in our family, everyone has a different style cell phone, so every two years when we got new phones, it meant buying a new car charger for each phone... well, no more! we decided to just buy an inverter for each car, and that way we can just plug in the charger that is included with each phone, we'll never buy another cell phone car charger again!! and we'll be all set to plug in laptops and digital camera batteries also when we go on trips! great little item, no dangling wires, only drawback is the fan noise, which is easily overcome by radio/cd playing in the car.Customer Review: A question of quality

The product works as advertised. However, it occasionally emits a high pitched sound which I identified as a hardware issue with the mini fan which resides in the unit. Something is loose: either the case that holds the unit together or the mini fan inside. After I fumble around with the unit for a minute I get the sound to go away. But it's annoying to have to do this. I have only used the unit a few times so far. Perhaps the noise will go away entirely...or it might come back and never go away. So I remain concerned. When the unit isn't hissing at me, it's great.Customer Review: Handy little utility

This is a handy little utility that I bought after Ike, where we suffered 10 days of no electricity. It is a good item to convert DC in the car to AC. We used it a few times, and it works well with charging notebook computer/ipod as well as for heating up the electric curling iron for my girlfriend to do her hair as we go from one Christmas party to another. The only thing is that it is not too powerful to charge large items such as bigger TV or refrigerator. Otherwise, it is good. Slightly noisy due to the fan inside.
