Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of XFX PVT44AWANG GeForce 6200 256MB GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card (VGA/DVI/S-Video)

Customer Review: great performance on a budget
Summary: 5 Stars

The geforce 6200 256mb GDDR2 Agp 4x/8x card is a bargain. Most cards have less memory for the same price. Also, it does work as a dual head video card. You can use the VGA port for one monitor and use the DVI port for another (you may need a dvi to vga apdater if not using a flat panel). I ran 2 21" monitors with no problems. It supports spanning or can be used independently. Sweet!! Performance is great and I was able to run most 3-d apps and games with no problems as well. I was using the on board vga which was lousy. I highly recommend this card, though I suppose if your into really heavy 3d gaming perhaps there ar faster cards but not at this price. Works on 4x AGP slots and 8x agp slots. Also, download the software from the xfx site as the drivers that come with it are old.very nice for video editing as well ,but the best part is running two 21" monitors a 1280x1024 with 85hz refresh.nice!!

Customer Review: Very good card for what I wanted
Summary: 5 Stars

Not for hardcore gamers, but certainly good enough for most average gaming/non-gaming needs. (Example games being NWN, Sims 2, Modded SFC OP w/lots of objects, WBC3 w/Custom 256x256 Scenarios, etc.)

Scored a benchmark of 183 on the freestone vid card test and was rock-solid when tested for stability. The low profile bracket package deal is a very cool option for custom case modders like myself. Low power consumption is another nice consideration if you're running a questionable and/or low wattage PSU.

Card remains reasonably cool, even when stressed when it only becomes somewhat uncomfortable to the touch, which is very good for a passive cooling solution.

Ignored the CD that came with it and installed the newest drivers from nvidia and worked w/o a hitch, which is how it should be.

Customer Review: Great AGP card
Summary: 4 Stars

Pros: EXCELLENT LINUX SUPPORT, Silent, 256mb, DDR2, Dual monitor out, optional low profile bracket.
Cons: AGP, not the fastest card around.

I bought this card to bring my aging AGP based P4 system back from the dead. This card works flawlessly in Linux, using NVidia's proprietary drivers. It runs Compiz and all of Fusion's plugins, and it can handle the basic compositing add-ons like kiba-dock and avant-window-navigator. It is, however, a little slow to run all these things at full speed.

If you need a capable, silent, affordable, AGP video card for linux, this is it.
If you want a video card capable of running all of the Compiz eyecandy and the fanciest addons at full speed, you'll need a faster card (and I'd need a faster machine).

9/10 overall. Highly recommended.

Customer Review: XFX GeForce 6200 256MB Video Card
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this card so I could run dual monitors, I have an older 21" CRT and just bought a new Hanns G 22" TFT (I Love it, reviewed seperatly). I was a little concerned because there was another reviewer that mentioned something about power requirements and I couldn't find any information about it online. In fine print on the box it mentions a minimum 250W power supply if you have "a number of other internal devices installed" I installed it on a Dell Dimension 8250 and it was super easy, I did read the instructions, they said to uninstall the old drivers before removing and installing the new card. I did that and it booted up fine, new drivers installed easily and the dual monitors work perfectly. I don't play games so I can't comment on that aspect of it but the setup of dual monitors was fast and easy.

Customer Review: A worthwhile upgrade from the Geforce4
Summary: 5 Stars

I had a Geforce 4 video card in my computer that I purchased 5 years ago an made several upgrades to. Most recently, I upgraded the memory to 768 from 512, upgraded the processor to a 1.4 Pentium III, and upgraded the Video Card from a Geforce 4 420 to the this card.

Installation went flawlessly under XP SP2. First, I downloaded the latest drivers for this card from the Nvidia website. I uninstalled the previous Nvidia drivers and utilities, rebooted the computer, shut it down, removed the old card, installed the new card, then ran the installation program for the drivers I had downloaded from the Nvidia website.

This new card is fast and so far, stable and reliable. I've never had so easy an installation with a graphics card before.
