Many of the people reviewing this product are not very knowledgeable.
1) It uses a STANDARD Micro-USB cable. Yes, this is a "standard" USB cable. You can buy them at any computer store. This is the same cable used on a lot of current (2010) MP3 players and cell phones. It is not some proprietary WD cable. It is a standard form-factor for USB cables used on small devices. I tested this with the Micro-USB cable that came with my new Motorola "Droid" cell phone and it works perfectly. You can buy these on Amazon or at Best Buy or wherever. Do a search on this site for "micro USB cable".
2) Maybe they have fixed it with newer versions of this drive, but on my drive the cable fits snugly. I don't have a problem with it slipping out. I have to tug hard to remove it, which is normal.
I like the drive. It doesn't require external power (though the USB port must be a powered port), it has a very bright activity LED, the case is compact and looks sharp, and it is very quiet. The price is very reasonable compared to other drives with this capacity.
I docked it a star because the included cable is very short. But yes, you can go out to any major computer store and buy longer ones. Do a google image search for "micro USB cable" and you will see lots of results. I also docked a star because you cant get rid of the included software (this is a valid complaint). I did not experience a long wait when reconnecting the drive, but this may just be a Vista thing. I haven't tested it on an XP system or a Mac.
