I bougt this hd on Dec 16, 2008 as a replacement for the 60GB fujitsu on my PS3, upgrade processn and backup/restore went smooth, i didn't find any trouble.
Drive worked very well, fast, low noise level, etc... then, on Dec 19, 2009 the disk suddenly died, without any warning the PS3 just froze on the XMB and shut itself down, when i turned it on again the HD wasn't recognized anymore and just keep making a clicking noise.
At first i thougt about claiming the WD warranty, but this is the second WD drive that fails on me in less than a year so i decided to buy a 320GB Seagate Momentus to try my luck, i hope this one performs better.

I bought this just for my PS3. I originally had a 40gb model and this new hard drive works wonders. After installing it and formatting the new hdd, you are left with approximately 263 GB of space. I read somewhere online that the PS3 counts "space" a little differently so you can actually put around 280 GB of info on this hdd, but still anything over 250 GB is a LOT of space.
And as far as speed is concerned, I've noticed certain things load a little quicker. I'm not sure if the hdd has anything to do with that, but I've only got 160 GB of space left and my PS3 is still fast as lightning when it comes to loading and pulling up pics and vids.

i used this to upgrade my hdd on PS3 AND It worked great so far. i've had it for about a month so far. it was real easy to change out the old one for new one. go on youtube.com and search how to upgrade PS3 hard drive for videos. i put the old hdd in an enclosure to make it an external hdd. keep in mind that after formatting hdd you'll end up with about 290gb. the enclosure i used was the Vantec NexStar SX NST-285S2-BK 2.5-Inch SATA to USB 2.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure sold here on amazon. that was a bit tricky for you have to format external hdd to a FAT32 in order for PS3 to recognize it. it took about 10 days to ship which was pretty long.Customer Review: replace ps3 hard drive

My grandson's PS3 only worked for 3 mo. We contacted Sony and they wanted $150.00 to fix or replace it. I started checking online what type of drive it had etc. I priced around and found Amazon had the best deal. It also gave me input on how well the drive I selected would work in his PS3. I ordered it and it came within the time stated. It took all of 10 min to install and now he's playing again. With shipping it was only $80.00, alot less than Sony. I really appreciate the detail Amazon goes to so you not only have the product but can get info on how it has worked for others and install issues if any.

This drive works wonderfully as a replacement for my internal drive!
Replacement is easy if you search for instructions, and the guide i found had useful diagrams.
Just make sure you have a set of torx drivers and small screwdrivers.
Drive is quiet (better than the one it came with), and i have no noticeable change in battery life.
I highly recommend this drive to anyone who wants/needs to replace the internal Macbook Pro one for either larger capacity or the reason of "your roommate is a retard and dropped it", as mine was.
Works well with an external USB drive bridge and windows XP (running macdrive), as well.
