Customer Review: PS3 Upgrade
Summary: 5 Stars

As someone before me has stated, it's possible to use this as a PS3 upgrade. And that's sure what I did.

I do, unlike previous reviewer, use it for a movie collection. And BOY, it doesn't disappoint. With as much information stored on there, and all the space used up, it would seem like the PS3 or the hard drive would slow down, but I can assure everyone it runs at the same exact speed, and takes the same amount of time, as my 80 gb (factory installed) hard drive took to run. It works for all my uses.

Since this is more of a review over the hard drive I will stick with that. Currently been using for over a few months, and it hasn't had one single error thrown out of it, or one problem. Perhaps it's the reason I'm using it for that has left this working well, since I can't give expert advice on how it would react on a laptop or desktop. But it works fine.

Worth definitely the look into if it fits your needs, as I'm happy with it.

Customer Review: Great Product - Great Price
Summary: 5 Stars

This hard drive is one of the cheapest I found. If you are looking for good quality at a cheap price, this is the one! Granted, it did come in a plain, generic shipping box in only bubble wrap and a plastic sleeve, but packaging gets thrown in the trash anyway! (And this was probably more attributed to my choice of seller) I had no problems installing and it has had no problems performing like a champ!

I used this hard drive to replace the smaller 100GB factory hard drive in my Intel MacBook and it works beautifully. I used a program called Super Duper to clone an exact copy of my older hard drive to this drive using an external enclosure, (Like this StarTech SAT2510U2 InfoSafe 2.5-Inch USB/SATA Hard Drive Enclosure) then simply took out my old drive and put this bad boy in. Everything was the same except I had an extra 200+ gigs of space for very little $$$

Customer Review: Someone should mention...
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a really easy install to upgrade your PS3 if you know 2 things:

1) You will need a #0 Philips head screwdriver.
2) Download the latest update (in my case 2.60) from the Playstation website to a disc or flash drive.

It is extremely easy to strip the screws with the wrong size screwdriver (guess how I know...)

Apparently there is also a difference in some 40G systems from all the data you first run into on the web about changing hard dives. It is not as simple as swapping out and then hitting the X-button to format. Mine asked for the update media to be inserted first, then hit select and start to proceed. It then proceeded fine, finishing in about 20 minutes. Not difficult, but it might save you some stress to know that it may be a little different from the instructions you usually see on the net.

Otherwise, it works great, and I highly recommend the simple upgrade.

Customer Review: Nice drive, with a caveat for Leopard users
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this to replace the stock hard drive in my 2008 Macbook, and while it does work, it took some ... finessing.

Essentially, Leopard has a hard time recognizing this drive. After swapping HDs, I booted into Disk Utility , which showed no trace of the new hardware. A few minutes poking around on support forums showed that this isn't an isolated problem, but people have found a few workarounds. I took my Macbook to the Apple store, where they were able to do a network boot into Tiger (which spotted the HD right away) and format the drive, clearing the way for a standard Leopard installation. This is probably a less-than-ideal solution for most people, so you might want to keep that in mind.

Having said that, this a Leopard problem, not a Western Digital one, so I can't justify knocking points off its review score. Once it's up and running, it's a very nice hard drive at a great price.

Customer Review: PS3 Users That Want A 320GB Harddrive - BUY THIS
Summary: 5 Stars

PS3 USERS: This piece of hardware is great. Really easy to install and so long as you have something to copy a backed up copy of your old harddrive, the installation takes only a few hours total. It literally takes about 10 minutes to physically change the HDD's over, but copying the old data takes a while. The more data you have, the longer it'll take. Make sure though you also have the most recent copy of the PS3 Updates on your backup drive as well, because that is needed also. You can download a copy of it from PlayStation's website over your computer. Just make sure you place it in a folder marked "UPDATE" inside the "PS3" folder of your backed up data on the external hard drive, or whatever storage device you used.

The space you get from this is great, this is easy to use, and so far, no problems whatsoever. Of all the upgraded hard drives out there, this one is the most reliable.
