Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Western Digital 320 GB Passport 2.5" USB 2.0 Hard DriveCustomer Review: Misrepresentation in product features Summary: 1 Stars
Product claims it can Copy-to-PC synchronized files in the MyProfile. Did that and most of the files were corrupted (only partially restored, file size reduced, could not be opened by original application, etc). The manufacturer claims it is only a synchronization software not a back-up software. Why then does it claim to have this Copy-to-PC feature, which corrupts files, rendering them useless. There should be a class action lawsuit for this ill-designed, mis-represented product.
Customer Review: Don't blame the drive. Blame the laptop Summary: 5 Stars
I have the 250 GB version of this drive and it works really well on my IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad X61s. It is inappropriate to give the drive a low rating when it doesn't work because the problem is with the laptop, not the drive. Instead of complaining, get a good laptop as even the best are very inexpensive these days compared with even a few years ago. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish. If you want to get a Thinkpad, monitor the site www.ecoupons.com for periodic discount coupons.
Customer Review: Small, light, and awesome.. and 16in cable! Summary: 5 Stars
The cable for this model is much longer than previous models, measuring about 16 inches. I made an HFS partition for Time Machine and large file storage (for Macbook Pro), and made 100GB partition in FAT32. It has worked perfectly with a mac, a windows machine, and a PS3.
It so easy to use and carry around, and the cord is definitely long enough this time! I have owned it for 2 months with zero issues. It also looks sweet.
Highly Recommended.
Customer Review: Compact , User Friendly and has not failed Summary: 5 Stars
So far so good...I decided on the 320 gig version of this WD drive because the 80 gig version I am currently using has not failed for nearly a year. The drive has great security features and it's compact. No external power source, just running off the power of the USB...you get tired of having to plug in more wires. This is great for laptops. Everyone should get in the habit of backing up data. I recommend this product that purpose or to be used as a secondary hard drive.
Customer Review: Had some troubles but figured it out. Summary: 3 Stars
This is my first external hard drive ever so I don't really have anything to compare it to. Make sure you format/partition before backing up a Mac. First time I backed up, I had to reformat. On my second backup, my mac wouldn't recognize the drive so I bought the USB 2.0 power cable that Western Digital recommended on their website. That didn't work right away but it started backing up after I partitioned it. There are helpful instructions on the wd website.
