Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Wagan EL9794 12V 3 Way Socket with Battery AnalysisCustomer Review: Works great but don't buy for the battery analysis Summary: 4 Stars
Nice way to add a few more 12V DC sockets to your car. I mounted mine in the right front footwell, right near the passenger's left knee. Cord is long enough to be routed over to the factory socket. I was attracted by the battery analysis concept but in reality, how accurate did I expect 4 LED's to be? I don't have the instructions right in front of me, but as I recall, the LED's indicated something like (top to bottom): Full Charge, Low Charge, Car Won't Start, Battery Needs Replacement. So, if you don't want to kill your battery, you have about one LED's worth of warning. I think I'll look into one of the voltmeters that plug into a socket and give a more accurate reading for this purpose. All that being said, this works great for making three sockets where you've only got one.
Customer Review: Works great, good battery indicator Summary: 5 Stars
First of all, as a splitter or 3-way socket (whatever you like to call it), it works great! I read other reviews that said "too tight" or "too loose". I pluged in a few things in this spliiter (GPS, radar dectector, converter, cell phone charger). All of them fit in the splitter like gloves.
Secondly, the batter indicator works great too. I guess my car battery is not as high-capacity as the others. If I turn off the engiene and leave GPS, radio, and a few things on, I can see the battery level drop in about 10 to 30 minutes. So it conveniently reminds me what my car battery charge is.
Oh, one last thing, its own power cord is not too short, though not too long either. It's about 4 to 5 feet, I guess.
Overall, a good splitter!
Customer Review: Simple Product that Works Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this adapter (as opposed to one without a cable because to use my existing socket for power I had to keep the ashtray open all the time.
It took me about 10 minutes to wire this unit to the existing socket wiring, and 1 minute to attach the unit to my car using the provided screws.
I am using two of the ports - one connected to my Sirius satellite receiver and the other conencted to my Garmin GPS - everything works fine.
The power indicator is "interesting" but redundant from a practical standpoint as my car already has a battery indicator.
For the price you can't go wrong.
Note that you will have to be patient as the lead time for this unit is about a month from cablesonline.
Customer Review: Handy, Helpful12V, 3-Way, 12V Outlet Summary: 5 Stars
This device fits nicely into one of the storage cubby-holes in the dash/console of my Suburban. With the 3-Way socket expansion, it provided me the additional outlets needed to power up my Garmin, air cleaner, and cell phone charger. It has illuminated outlets and provides a battery strength indicator, which is a nice added feature. In fact, the indicator suggested my battery was very low, and, about 2 weeks after installing this, my battery needed replacement. LOL And NO!, It was not this device that drained my battery, it was just the appropriate time for a new one. :)
It appears to be of solid quality and works well. I would readily buy this same device for another car, if needed.
Customer Review: solves multiple charger problems Summary: 5 Stars
During our recent cross-country move, I needed to be able to plug in my cell phone, the GPS and the DVD player for the kids (vital to everyone's general well-being during 3 days in the car.) I only had one working cigarette adapter in the car and needed an easy solution. This adapter worked great the entire time. I chose not to screw it into my console as recommended, but rather put some double sided velcro on the bottom and that worked fine. This is a fantastic product despite the fact that they spelled "socket" wrong in the description.
