I bought this to plug in to my Airport Extreme router as our network drive. The HPS format works great with the airport extreme drive sharing which serves all of my windows and linux PCs in my house. I have no macs. I had problems with performance and large files using a traditional FAT32 formatted external drive. This drive has none of those problems and works great.Customer Review: Anything for a MAC!!

It works very well with my iMac! I finally got it set up with my timemachine and it backs up every time I use the computer. It was a bit difficult to get set up without instructions, but I just Googled it and got it set right up! This is a great product! They order this all the time at NIH where I work for the scientists. I needed a new drive for my Mac and this one was what the doctor ordered. Hook-up couldn't have been any easier. Just plug n play. No software to download. Formatted itself in about 10 minutes. I was transferring files fifteen minutes after hooking her up. With a high speed 2.0 USB transfer rates are like lightning. Plugged it in, attached it via USB to my iMac and it worked. No setup involved. Assigned it as the backup drive in Time Machine and it has performed admirably. Also use it to backup my Win/XP virtual machine under Parallels using SecondCopy. Love the fact that it powers down when I turn off my iMac. I bought this drive to backup my photos on Lightroom 2. It is a great little drive. A real workhorse. This is the third one of this type I've purchased and each has been equally reliable. The drive is compact is size and stacks up nicely in a corner of my always cluttered desk.
