Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of VTech CS5111 1-Handset Cordless Phone, Silver/BlackCustomer Review: Buy Cheap, Get Cheap Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this phone because I wanted minimal gadgetry for a minimal price. I got what I wished for and less.
This phone does work, is light in weight, and does look good. Except for the three small buttons on the bottom row, the backlit buttons are large and easy to see and easy to push. Sound quality is not stellar, but is more than adequate.
Two gripes are the dimly lit display that in no way measures up to the brightly lit screen shown on the packaging. Also dialing is slower than other phones I've used, but that's a minor complaint.
In retrospect I wish I'd spent a little more for a phone with a speakerphone feature.
This isn't a bad phone for a second, third or fourth option. It's a good phone for that spare bedroom, but not the best choice for one's primary phone.
Customer Review: cheap product, cheap price Summary: 2 Stars
Bought this to work with Vought from the computer. No interference, works well for that purpose. I'll be returning it though. It has no headset jack and no speakerphone function. It has no beltclip (with no jack outlet I suppose that's not an issue) And since it only charges forward facing, there's no way to attach a wedge to help you. This phone will be for my long-distance calls so without a way to better wedge it between my head and shoulder and no jack or speakerphone it's a loser. The phone face is also completely flat with no molding so it hurt my ear for just the little bit I used it for.
For extremely brief calls I think it might be just fine. For any other length (ear still kinda hurts and I was on only 1 min) and long calls I'd go with something else.
Customer Review: Great if you don't try to leave the room. Summary: 1 Stars
I spoke at length with Vtech about this phone. Their bottom line is that if it is near a computer or a wireless network it will not work very well. I agree with them completely. The phone works fine when i am within arm's length of the transmitter but as soon as I am more than ten feet away it starts breaking up and as soon as I break line of sight it's pretty much a goner. If you just want to do away with the hassle of a tangled cord get this phone. If you want a phone you can take to the other room or (gasp) outdoors, then get a DECT 6.0 phone, especially if you have a computer with WiFi. You get what you pay for with this phone and if you want a piece of junk not worth $20 then this is the phone for you.
Customer Review: Great Value Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this phone because this phone new costs the same as a replacement battery for my last cordless phone and in past experience, once a battery wears out, the entire phone would soon follow. The call sound quality is better than my last GE/Thomson cordless phone and nearly as good as the corded phones in my apt. The GE was not as good but usable. Since all I really wanted was a cordless phone that worked well for making calls, this has met my expectations very well. With that being said, if you're looking for a phone loaded in features (speakerphone, answering machine, multiple handsets) this will not work out for you.
Customer Review: Great, inexpensive phone Summary: 5 Stars
I don't ask for much from a phone except easy set-up, good sound quality, and durability. The V-Tech fits those categories very well and the price is incredibly low. I had this same phone for 5 years and the battery went. A new battery costs as much as the phone so I just got a new phone instead. Another thing I like is the shape of this phone. I looked at several phones in the $50-$100 range but they looked like cell phones. Apparently most people have tiny hands and fingers to press thos little buttons all cluttered together. If you can do without all the frills, this is the phone for you.
