Customer Review: Caller ID Issues frustrating

The look and construction of this phone base and cordless seem great. The sound quality is good to me. The problem I have is with the caller ID.
The Caller ID system in the phone does not work correctly. When a new phone number is brought up in the 'Caller ID History' you can then choose to save it. (the phone company typically sends a 10 digit phone number, and this is the case with the company i use). Once saved when that number calls in again, what you named that person shows up. the issue is not with calling, but calling out. Say you want to call a stored caller ID number, 555-555-5555 number. the problem is that there is no 1 in front and i get a frustrating "sorry your number can't be connected as dialed, you need a one in front of the number". So you would have to edit the number from 555-555-5555 to 1-555-555-5555 and then you can dial out. The issue now is that when that person calls IN the phone doesn't know that number because it has a 1 in front of it.
The manual says that when you get a caller id history, you can call back on caller id history (not directory - saved numbers) with a 1 by changing it with the # sign. You can then call back by # and lifting the handset turning the number that was 555-555-5555 to 1-555-555-5555 or 555-5555. You can do this by cycling through the type of phone number to call back by hitting the # sign. but this 'feature' for 'caller id history' is not a feature available to the 'directory' which is where you store you caller ID numbers with a name.
I called AT&T and they claim that phone isn't functioning correct. But i feel this is not the case. i suspect the phone has been built incorrectly for caller ID.
I would not recommend this phone. If you do buy it, keep the reciept and do a through check of the caller ID system before you keep it. I suspect it does not do as it should.
