Customer Review: AT&T Dect 6.0 cordless phones
Summary: 1 Stars

These phones are JUNK.AT&T DECT 6.0 Digital Three Handset Answering System (SL82318) In April of 2010 I the AT&T Dect 6.0 base station/answering machine SL82218. A few weeks later I bought a 3rd. handset. After a few months I started having problems such as the phone would ring, I would press the answer button and say hello, I found out later the same day that the party who called could hear me but it seemed to me as if the line was dead. A couple of weeks later I plugged in a headset because I planned to make a long call, I moved the handset a very little bit and the headset plug came out as if I had pressed an eject button, it even came out after I put a rubber band around it. I found out that the other 2 handsets did exactly the same thing, I even went so far asto buy a AT&T headset, same problem. I called AT&T and they told me to send all 3 handsets, leaving us with no phone, needless to say I did not do it. It wasn't long after thius I was using of the handsets to place a call which lasted 25-35 minutes before I started to experience a severe volume drop off and on so I cuoldn't hear the party I was speaking to. I will NEVER buy An AT&T product again!

Customer Review: DECT 6.0 not as interference free as they claim
Summary: 3 Stars

these are very pretty phones, but they couldn't handle a tiny NYC apartment without making all of us sound like we were underwater and cutting out in one room just 15 feet away from the base.

We had the same problem with the DECT 6.0 Panasonic phones.

If you are struggling too, go back to the 5.8 Ghz technology. It is fantastic in every corner of our digs, and pays no heed at all to our wireless router.

btw, panasonic had better features. In NY you need to dial 1-212 even for local calls. AT&T has you set that feature for every call back every time you grab a number off of the caller id. Panasonic remembers the setting after you tell it once.

AT&T phones also do not let you collect your messages from the handsets

so pretty phones, missing I think critical features and 6.0 just isn't for everyone.

I'll give this phone 3 stars because for anyone without problems caused by the new technology, they are nice phones. But for those of you who have had issues with any other DECT phone, it is safe to assume it is the tech, not the brand.

Good Luck. We are so happy to be done with telephone hell.

Customer Review: Really nice phone
Summary: 5 Stars

We were going from cells only to having a landline and cutting down on cell package (At&t Uverse has a great flat-rate landline package). We were used to small cell phones and didn't want some bulky land line phone. Also, we're expecting our first child in a couple months and we have baby monitors to consider that might interfere. These phones have been great. They're lightweight and narrow but the key pad is easy to use despite the narrow overall size. It has an answering system but you don't have to use it if you have voicemail thru your phone company like we do. The phone will still alert you with the words "New Voicemail Message" despite it having a built-in answering machine. Every handset will tell you that a message is waiting or a call has been missed. Every handset has speaker phone option on the handset. You can select a special ringtone from a fair sized list of tones. Sound quality is great. The phone has a nice directory too. The phone is backlit well and the keys are protected by plastic so they don't rub off or get damaged. We're really happy with these phones and highly recommend them. The price is right as well. Great buy.

Customer Review: Replaced a Great Panasonic system
Summary: 5 Stars

My old Panasonic cordless phone system was all a person could ask for, but eventually it got old, weak and no longer did the job. I replaced it with another Panasonic system that had all the latest features and looked great. But this new Panasonic system didn't have the required range, and there are no range extenders available in the USA. So I found a lot of recommendations for the new AT&T cordless phones that are advertised as having the best range. I purchased this AT&T system and returned the Panasonic system. Lo and behold, this AT&T phone has the best range I've yet to see. The phones are exceedingly good-looking with beautiful blue lighting, and they are quite comfortable in the hand. Programming was very fast and easy. The number pads are large, easy to see and use. They have been in use for less than a week, but so far no complaints. People who used to complain about reception on my old Panasonic system love this new one. Sounds like we're sitting next to each other. One small thing: some new cordless are now using rechargeable AA batteries. This still uses the old proprietary batteries that are expensive to replace.

Customer Review: Absolutely awful. Waste of money!
Summary: 1 Stars

I doubt a worse phone could be made. The handsets have no grip. This makes it impossible to press the buttons with just one hand. Also, during conversations there are short blips of sound where each party thinks the other hung up.

Another annoyanceis that the ear piece will not emit sound if you are talking. Sometimes, dialogue between two people requires the other speaking and hearing at the same time. It can be confusing when you are speaking to someone who is in a noisy environment because as soon as you begin to speak, the ear piece mutes and you cant hear the background noise present at the other end. This seems like it could be a good thing but I find it distracting.

And lastly, there is a delay from when you press a single number on the handset to when it beeps. This makes you think you are not pressing the button in far enough. But when you go back to press it again, the beep sound occurs. This is fine as long as you havent already pressed the number again. Otherwise, you have to start over. What a pain! I'm going back to Panasonic!
