Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of AT&T SL82318 DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone, Silver/Gray, 3 Handsets

Customer Review: AT&T SL82318
Summary: 5 Stars

This phone has three handsets numbered 1, 2 and 3. Handset 1 charges from the base unit. The two other handsets have small cradles for charging. The base unit and the two cradle plug into AC outlets.

The base unit is where the answering machine is accessed.

Functionality is high. It is easy to input numbers and edit the database. The database can be accessed through all three handsets. Phone numbers can easily be selected for dialing.

The LED panel is large and easy to read.

The intercom feature eliminates the need for you to yell at someone in another room.

Caller-ID function is within all three handsets.

It has a feature that causes the handsets to ring for easy locating if you lose one.

It keeps track of all incoming calls in memory.

It has a preset welcome message or you can record your own.

I live in a mobile home and have three computers on a LAN/WAN setup. Handset #2 is located in my bedroom next to my radio and when I'm using the phone it is approximately 2 feet away from a 500 watt computer system. There is absolutely no interference from other electronics in my home.

There is more that this phone does so do your homework.

As of January 28, 2009 there are 85 reviews given. 54 people rank this phone 5 out of 5 stars. 9 people rank this phone 3 stars or lower. I don't know about you but, when I see such a huge gap, I automatically think something is wrong somewhere!

You will be very happy with this phone.

Customer Review: Great Phone! Strongly Recommend!
Summary: 4 Stars

We bought this set as a replacement for another AT&T phone that we could no longer find batteries for. Since there are 5 of us in the house, we wanted to have enough phones. Now we have a problem finding all of them! The only thing that we do not like, is that only the main base has a call button for finding the handsets. We recently "downgraded" from cable internet to AT&T DSL to save some money (wished that we had not done this, but that is a different story, different review). Anyway, we were having a LOT of issues initially with AT&T stating that our telephone was causing our problems with our DSL and interfering. We had put the filter on they sent and everything. They told us that we might have to buy a different kind of telephone! I explained that this was an AT&T system and that I doubted it was the issue. After (and I am NOT kidding you) 12 technician visits, they finally found that our problem was a wire that was at the box down the street! If we would have listed to the technicians, we would have bought a brand new phone system when this one is one a few months old. The range on this phone is incredible. I wanted to emphasize this. My wife had placed one of the handsets in her purse by accident. We were about 4 houses down our street when this ringing came from her purse. It was way too loud of our cell phone. She then realized that she had put our cordless phone in her purse and answered it. There was little to no static on the line almost a block down the street! I strongly suggest this phone if you need one for distance, clarity, and capability!

Customer Review: Try Another Model...
Summary: 1 Stars

Bought this item, based on the rave reviews written about it, but after owning & operating this thing on my 21st Century, money-saving VOIP technology equipment, MagicJack, I am of the opinion that not many people know "what" they are talking about...so I'll give you the straight "skinny" about using VOIP connections(and NOT the phone company box utility)

The MAIN thing you need when using these VOIP communications portals, especially with telephones, are: VOICE CLARITY (both ways) & CONNECTION (Dropouts)capability, and THIS phone fails these main points....while everything else works great, this AT&T model is 2years behind the times, so you might want to give another model a run:

AT&T Model TL32200

While moving about, from Room-to-Room, "Connection" has a big problem ("hello...hello") and VOICE quality can be a headache too ("can you speak up...sorry, what did you say")...but you don't seem to get this with the TL32200 model, I found out, when I was talking to the CSR at their Support Center about RMA'ing this model because their TL32200 is the 2010 model of DECT6.0 and has been known to work BETTER with Skype and MagicJack that use VOIP Broadband connection technology.

So far, I have NOT had people telling me I was "breaking up" or could BARELY hear certain people who were on different types of connections (cellphone, home & work landlines; etc)

Just my 2 cents..from someone who is "actually" using modern VOIP systems!

Customer Review: A headset tip for the best cordless landline I have owned
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned several cordless land-line phones: 5.8GHz, 2.4 GHz, 900 MHz, and earlier models. This is my first DECT 6, and this AT&T SL82318 works very well - the best yet. This particular phone was top rated by Consumer Reports. The sound is very clear, and the usable distance from the base is very good. I have tested it over 75 ft away and a story away from the base in my home. Some reviewers have complained that the volume could be louder, but I do not find that to be a problem. I can hear well and I am heard well. The handsets are light weight and they have speakers if you want even more volume. I used two handsets at once in the house, and they work fine with no interference. A nice feature is that telephone numbers entered into the memory of any handset are available to all handsets. I don't need the intercom feature, but I am using the headset feature.
I am using a Plantronics M210C headset that works well. I can hear clearly and with reasonable volume, and I can be heard very well. The headset is comfortable to wear. I read a review that said that the Plantronics M214C headset works well with AT&T phones, and I tried this model. I also tried an AT&T EH500 headset with this phone, and it did NOT work well. I could barely hear or be heard. AT&T says that all of their headsets work with all of their phones, but that is not the case. Note that there is a newer model of this phone (CL82309) that is very similar but has no headset jacks.

Customer Review: Definity an improvement over 5.8.GHz technology
Summary: 5 Stars

The AT&T SL82318 Dect 6.0 Handset System definitely represents a significant improvement over 5.8GHz technology. My previous 5.8GHz worked well but not as good as this system.

Sound quality to include clarity and volume is excellent and it remains that way for extended ranges. I have used these handsets often from more than 100 feet from the base unit with perfect results. My guess is that these ranges can be exceeded with no problem.

Interference is not an issue as my computer and various other wireless devices are not affected when these AT&T handset are in use and vice versa.

Lighted keypads are definitely a plus and a must and the keys are large enough that entering a number is not a problem even with large fingers.

Speakerphones, which are integrated into each handset, operate clearly and with more than enough volume. You can also stand several feet away from the handset and the microphone picks up your voice so that you can still easily converse with your caller.

Battery life is definitely a plus. I have not really "tested" its capabilities. However, I can tell you that, on several consecutive occasions, I have talked for extended periods of time (2 hours or more) and left the handset out of the charger for a day or so and have used it again for extended periods without any issues.

Bottom line, it is an excellent system. You won't be disappointed if you purchase it.
