Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of AT&T DECT 6.0 Digital Three Handset Answering System (SL82318)Customer Review: The best I had so far! Summary: 5 StarsWow, this cordless phone rocks!! The range (for me the most important) is marvelous!! Sound quality too... I owned some Panasonics phones before, but they all had lots of static and short range... this one has a 100+ feet range in house/building environment... outside way more...
Highly recommend this phone, if someone knows one with a better range in this price range, please let me know (and also expendable - this you can hook up to 12 units!!)
Customer Review: Impressive! Summary: 5 StarsI received this cordless set today and it is better than I expected. I was using a Uniden 2.4Ghz single handset model that was good, but since it was only one handset, I had major problems with the battery dying out in the middle of conversations and that got very frustrating, especially when it was a business call. So I finally upgraded to multiple handsets and I am impressed with this AT&T model. The convenience of being able to switch handsets when the battery dies is priceless! Everything is easy to set up with step-by-step instructions right on the units! Unlike older models I've used, the battery chamber is conveniently designed with grooves so you can easily slide the battery cables in place so they don't get in the way of placing the cover back on. One side of the battery says "This Side Up" and a little note reminds you to match the color-codes.
The sound is crystal clear and long range with the DECT technology and I never hear an echo of my voice in the speaker which is also a plus.
The base has an option to turn ringer off and I find that useful since the base is located in a family member's bedroom and I often take calls at night while he is sleeping.
This system is well designed for those who hate reading instruction manuals and who want to set electronics up quickly as I do. The quality of this system surpasses it's price by far.
Customer Review: Very good phone set with minor flaws Summary: 5 StarsWe picked this 3 unit/answering machine set up during the Black Friday sales. Think store with a bullseye on it. The price was a good bit lower than it is being sold for here. I don't think at this point though, that the price would have changed my review at all. I had planned on getting the Panasonic DECT 6.0 set, but couldn't find any local stores that carried it. My wife happened to see this one on sale and like a typical electronic snob, I said, "They're not better than the Panasonics!" I had never used either. Typical man too.
I was told to upgrade to the DECT 6.0 phones because we have digital phone service. Our neighbors do as well. We were picking up serious distortion and interference with our old phones. These solved that problem instantly. So, if you're having that problem, they do fix it or at least for us it was fixed.
Setup is almost too easy. The answering machine had the right time, day, out of the box. The settings were set for answer on 4 rings, which is where I would put it anyway. Just plug the adapters in, peel the protective plastic off and you're ready to go, oh and plug the wire to the wall. Having digital phone service makes me forget that part. It's really simple. We also bought my 62 year old mother a set of them. She had them hooked up before I could go by the next day to help her hook them up. Good job AT&T. It's nice to buy something that doesn't require me to learn a new language to use.
Some features that may have been mentioned in other reviews, but just in case...
The ringer of each unit can be adjusted from completely off to loud enough for my neighbors to pick their phone up. Seriously, the ringer goes very loud. Having the no volume feature is always a welcome as well. You can also choose from 10 or so ring tones. These are similar to the generic ring tones that come on cell phones. Still a nice touch since each ring tone is louder/lighter when combined with different volumes. We set 2 of ours on no volume on the ringer. Having 3 phones ringing at one time makes the ringers even louder. We set the one ringer on 2 bars. Which is very low. It still is loud enough to hear and the phone units faces light up when ringing. This is a chain of good small features that may go unnoticed. You could probably turn the ringers all off and notice the face lighting up if you wanted complete peace from ringers.
The ID function is nice as well. It is backlit with a light blue type color. It also shows the full name and number. Though a standard feature, it is worth mentioning for that one person who may be wondering, you hit the send/on/green button on any number in your ID and it will call it back for you without manual dialing. The keypad also is backlit, so if you roll over at night and want a pizza, you can see the numbers in the dark. There is an intercom feature where you push the INT button. It asks which unit you want to call. The main unit is #1 the other two, #2 and #3. Push which room/unit you want to call and it rings it up. This is also useful for finding one of the phones if you're like us and have a little girl who likes hiding things!
At this point, I'm ready to say this is the greatest phone I've ever used. Three minor flaws eventually showed their faces. I still rate this set a 5 because I don't know if everyone would even consider these flaws. And, there is no 4.75 rating choice.
The three minor flaws. First is the silence when no one is talking. If you ask the person you're talking to a question, they think about it, the sound on the phone sounds dead. Complete silence. I didn't notice it at first until I said, "Are you there?" two times in one call. It's minor, but worth mentioning.
Second is the talk volume. I'm generally a soft-spoken person and have had 5-6 regular phone friends say, "I can't hear you good". The sound quality itself is crystal clear, but the volume isn't loud enough. I've adjusted it to the highest level, but am still getting, "I can't hear you good". My side is fine though. It could be the way I am holding the phone. It's minor too, but worth mentioning.
Third and last, the phone units are small. Go back to the second one. I think part of the reason my friends say they have trouble hearing me is because the phone is small. There is another minor quibble here too. On the side of the phones is a volume rocker switch. I hit it sometimes. It sits right where I normally put my thumb, being a rocker switch, it only needs a slight tap to lower or raise the volume. This one is almost bigger than a minor problem since it does effect how I hold the phone, which may be making me harder to hear on the other end of calls.
I would probably aim in 4.5 to 4.75 range on the score if those were available. Still, I'm sure I'll get used to it. Everything else is perfect with these phones and I not only would recommend them, but bought two extra sets at the sale price for Christmas presents for my aunt and uncle.
Customer Review: Great Phone! Summary: 5 StarsOur Panasonic phone gave us trouble from the start. With little children forgetting to place the phone in the charger, we appreciate how long the phones keep their charge. It is very easy to save phone numbers into the system. Love this phone!!!
Customer Review: Great price and clear conversation Summary: 4 StarsThe phones and base unit came packaged very well. I followed the quick set-up instructions and had made my first call in about 5 minutes. The sound is crystal clear and we especially like the intercom feature that allows you to call one of the other handsets in a different room/floor of the house. The digital answering machine can be custom configured just about any way you want. Great price through AMAZON.com and quick shipping to my location.
