Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Verbatim DVD+R 4.7GB 16x LightScribe 30pk Spindle

Customer Review: Very good
Summary: 4 Stars

First disk did not work properly after recording - skipped, audio was not synchronized with the video. The second one was fine. LightScribe takes very long to draw an image. I don't see myself using LightScribe in the future.

UPDATE 11/18/09: I ran out of non-Lightscribe DVDs so I was forced to start using these on my laptop (HP dv2000). I actually like them now and I am changing my rating to 4 stars.

At lower speeds (6x) they record just fine. As LightScribe goes, I stopped trying to use images on labels, and now just type the title of what's on the disk. It takes 4 minutes to inscribe two lines of 16 pt. text (one above the center and one below). Disks come out looking very nice.

Unfortunately, at current prices, these discs are ~2.5 times more expensive than AmazonBasics DVD+Rs. So, because of the price, I still don't see myself converting to using only LightScribe disks.

Customer Review: so far so good
Summary: 4 Stars

So far these are great out of a pack of 30 Ive used 10 and not one coaster so far. The picture is clear the sound is good and these lightscribe discs seem to be every bit as good and reliable as the regular verbatim discs Ive used in the past. Verbatim even though a little more expensive is definately worth it and the light scribe is great Ive been able to customize all my discs and the ones I give as gifts using pictures of my family, our dogs or even something personal to the person Ime giving it to and its never taken longer than 17 mins to burn. Only complaint if I had one would be that I wish the image was a little bolder and more pronouced, I wish it stood out a little more, but compare to a sharpie and my awful handwriting these lightscribe discs truly are remarkable

Customer Review: Can't get the disc to burn
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought these discs, along with a new Samsung DVD+R drive, and I have YET to have one created that doesn't have an 'error, and won't play after burning, HOWEVER, I can use a Memorex DVD+R discs, and they all record without any errors, same thing with the CD's. I did notice that the inside ring (Verbatim) has what looks like a barcode, which the Memorex does not. Maybe this is the problem! I definitely will be returning these discs because none of the 4 that I created with the new Samsung drive is playable/recordable. After the error discs, I did flip the disc to see how well the lightscribe works, and it does a wonderful job creating good contrast labeling....now only if I could record without an 'error' and add another coaster to my Verbatim collection.

Customer Review: Cant be beat!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've never made a bad burn with Verbatim DVD's. I did try a cheap brand "Dynex" Don't try it!! 4 out of 4 dynex ones failed on my HP Burner so i returned them and bought Verbatim. like i said, haven't made a coaster yet! Also the smart people at the DVD forums all say that Verbatim is one of the best quality ones to use. Apparently cheaper DVD's will flake out over time and Verbatim's stand the test of time pretty well.
The LightScribe looks really cool and professional, True it takes about 28 minutes to make a complex template but so what, go watch TV and come back in 30 minutes right.. I've heard that Verbatim is coming out with colored dvds so look out for those in the near future!

Customer Review: I see the light with Verbatim
Summary: 5 Stars

Verbatim with LightScribe were my very first DVD disc purchase.I purchased them after reading the reviews of this product on Amazon.I purchased these for the singular use of burning in my photos from my computer to these discs.I am still routed in an analog mentality, so I have to have something tangable in my posession, even if it is 0 and 1 on a disc.
I just completed my first burns of photos. I burned 8 of these discs with out a problem at maximum speed then flipped them over and burned in my titles using the Lightscribe function incorporated in my Nero software that came with my new Samsung dvd. Sweet there is no debatin verbatim, they worked 100% of the time....so far...
