Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Verbatim 94554 700 MB 52x 80 Minute Branded Recordable Disc CD-R, 100-Disc SpindleCustomer Review: My, how the times are changing Dylan Summary: 5 Stars
I remember a time, which is remarkable since I am only 23, when I had to pay 15 dollars for 10 CDR's. My how technology has come along. Truth is, sometimes I feel CDR's are another one of Amazon's dirty secrets. In the store, they can still cost you up to 30 dollars, but with Amazon Prime and 15 bucks, I received these in two days for half the cost.
They arrived timely, well packaged, and working perfectly. If your reading this, your most likely trying to decide if the Verbatim brand is worth the extra dollar or so then the Amazon CDR's, as all CDR's do the same job. I ordered both Amazon and Verbatim, as I wanted to experience, or truly see, if there was any difference. The Verbatim discs are a little better secured to the spindle, with some extra padding to keep them tucked in snugly. Is it worth the 1 dollar? Yes. They seem to have the same durability, the same capacity, and they will both definitely hold mp3's. With that said, CD's still scratch like no ones business. So the slight extra padding provided by the Verbatim is worth the dollar up cost from the Amazon brand. They also have a little bit more flashy look, which is always worth a dollar in my book.
Now sure, maybe I could take better care of them instead of leaving them under my seat with years worth of french fries, but buying 100 just works better for me. This product does exactly what it specifies, and Verbatim has taken steps to make sure the CD's remain protected. That is worth the low price and 5 star review. Buy, Burn, and Enjoy.
Customer Review: The Worst CD-Rs I Have Ever Used For Audio CDs. Summary: 1 Stars
I have been using CD-Rs since 1999 and have never had as much of a problem with CD-Rs as these. Sometimes the burn okay, but the data verification stage usually fails. I use Nero to burn CDs. They seem okay for data CDs (which I wouldn't have bought a 100pk spindal for data CD use). For audio CDs I have had a horrible results. They burn okay, but hardly any of my CD players will read them. I have tried brand new DVD players to play the audio CDs with the same result. Sometimes they will play, but the tracks will pop, his and sound distorted. Eventually the sound quality drops over time. I think I would be better off with an LP Record compared to the sound and over all and life span of these. As they get older, the few that discs CD players can read have tracking problems. When you press for instance track 8 it takes a long time to seek to that track and plays the wrong track in the middle of the track too. My very first set of CD-Rs (bought in 1999) were Verbatium when they were still made in Japan. Those original discs were great and they still play like new to this day. Based on my experience I would not recommend these unless you only need to burn data. My last 50Pk was Sony and they worked perfectly. I have also used Memorex, Fuji, Kodak, IBM to name a few of the main ones with out a single bad burn or problem. I did have issues with audio CDs with older Imations (4X speed) so I will not purchase the Imation as well as the Verbatium brand CD-Rs ever again.
Customer Review: Finally a cd-r I can rely on Summary: 5 Stars
I have been burning copies of cds and my own made up music playlists for years. I've used many brands over the years with very little coaster discs meaning those that either didn't work or just wouldn't plain record. I just had an awful experiece with the Memorex cd-r discs. Out of 30 discs on average 25 did not work. I am not a novice at burning discs and know what I am doing. So I researched here on Amazon and wanted to give the Verbatim cd-rs a shot. I do most of my shopping with them for if something does not work they always provide hassle free returns. I know of no other place as amazing as Amazon. So I purchased these Verbatim cd-r discs after all my research knowing I could return them if there were problems. But I can honestly say there have been practically no problems with these. Out of 25 I have used there was 1 that did not work. For me that is fine. There is always a chance the occasional error disc will appear. But so far I have been able to make all my projects and burn cds error free.
The other great thing about Amazon is the fact that reviews by users and buyers are given such importance. Especially with items like this it is important for buyers to share their user experience. And saying that I highly recommend these discs.
Customer Review: Lower Quality Verbatims Out There Summary: 2 Stars
This review is about an experience with a 100 disc spindle I bought locally, didn't pay attention of "Made In" part of the label and later had a bunch of discs fail hours, days or two weeks later. The spindle disc ID in question is Made in India by Moser Baer. I've used many spindles of Verbatim over the years from consumer grade to "Data-Life" and this spindle has earned the spot of worst by far. 1-5 bad discs is common with most makers, having a few discs fail after burning is troubling. I hope Amazon doesn't carry the "Made in India" batch that I suffered with.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Expect discs you've burned to fail for no reason, if you burn audio CDs(mix discs) these degrade faster than data discs and become skip prone. Dye looks thinner/lighter on Made in India discs than Taiwan.
Other Thoughts: Complaining for replacements from Verbatim would cost more than it is worth, the constant change of outsourced supply makes it impossible to know who sells the better quality spindles(ex: Made In Taiwan). It isn't my CDRW/DVDRW drives, I've had discs fail hours after Toast or Nero verifies the disc. I also tried a few discs while at an Apple Store when I had my MacBook checked, the same results happened on an iMac and a Mac Pro.
Customer Review: Verbatim Scores!!! Summary: 4 Stars
After repeated failures of "Name-Brand" discs trying to distribute and market my company's product line to potential customer's, I found the Verbatim discs on Amazon, and figured... "Why Not"? The expense factor is minimal, so what did I have to lose, right?
We've wiped out the first 100 ct. spindle, and I'm happy to say I'm re-ordering alot more. These discs performed with ZERO glitches, and perfect uniformity. Our first "burns" were on old school (slow) computers, but produced great results. We've since upgraded our systems, and even at greater speeds, the end product is still immaculate.
I've burned them for all my personal music playlist "mixes" as well. Haven't had a single problem using them in any device I play them in.
I've read some negative reviews from PC user's regarding these discs, and don't understand what the problem might be. For me?... it is a great product at an incredible price. I will continue to use these discs and recommend them to all individuals looking to place their music, photos, or even archive family memories on something more permanent to be shared with loved ones. It's a great value, and worth trying for yourself.
