Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of HDMI Cable, 25 ft.Customer Review: Click Buy Summary: 5 Stars
Let me start out by saying ... I never review products but this certainly deserves it.
When I first bought an HDMI cable for my 50" 2 years ago I did a little research and decided to find a "good value" expensive cable believing the hype. I spent hours upon hours searching and was lucky to find a highly rated $60 + gold plated hyped up cord that worked and I was happy with. I recently decided to hide this cable behind the wall and discovered it was too short so when looking to upgrade from a 15' to 25' I was expecting to spend significantly more money BUT apparently I have grown wiser with age because I found this.
I was a little skeptical but with my limited technical background it made sense that a digital signal of 0's and 1's can't get distorted too much (with the exception of cable length). I have no idea why this never crossed my mind previously. According to Wikipedia (not sure if I can post a link) "In one experiment, audiophile listeners could not distinguish between short 30nster cables and ordinary coat hangers".
First off I got 2 cables for less than the price of the 1 "good value" cable I hunted for previously; no more clumsily fumbling to unplug and plug the HDMI from dvr to dvd. Second this cable is a much heavier gauge and includes (as seen in the picture) magnet "filters" on each end of the plug to minimize distortion, which the original "good value" cable did not include.
Now I am one of those people that hears the non-existent rattles in a new car or sees the imperfections between a 720 and 1080. My wife honestly can't tell the difference, which I still don't understand. So even if you are one of those people who can't tell the difference, go for it. It is after all cheaper. If you are like me I can honestly say the picture quality is clearer and sound is as good if better. FOR LESS $$$. There is no reason not to choose this over the hyped up BS cable that is widely available. I almost feel like I am cheating the manufacturer.
