DVD+R DL discs are not nearly as dependable or compatible as standard DVD-R and DVD+R. So that said, even the best, is still a little rough. Verbatim used to put out extremely high quality discs. They changed up their production a little bit and with it the Verbatim quality declined. Original Verbatims used to be perfect for me. Never a bum disc. The new Verbatims are still very good but I get a coaster usually out of every pack. At least one bad burn. I've become accustomed to that with DVD+R DL. The fact is...these degraded Verbatims are still the best DVD+R DL compared to anything else out on the market. New Memorex (yes they changed and got worse), Ricohjpn, Ridata, Playo, etc. All these discs are much poorer in comparison. Of course Verbatim is a little more expensive then the other discs but its worth it. Nothing like spending 20-40 minutes burning a DVD+R DL only for it to fail at 97%. Its a waste of time. So I'd rather spend a little extra for something that 98% of the time works properly and these verbatims are just that. 98% success rate.
I realize that if I could find a better DVD burner, I may have better success in burning, not just with these discs but other brands as well. But finding a good dvd burner is just about as hard as finding good DVD+R DL media.
Though I've tried many other brands, I always come back to Verbatim with my tail between my legs sorta speak. Cause the other brands never work out. So I give this product a 5 star rating, not because its perfect, but because it's as perfect as a DVD+R DL can get for me. Far beyond any other brand on the market.
