Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Verbatim 94839 4.7 GB 1x- 4x ReWritable Disc DVD+RW, 10-Disc Slim Jewel CaseCustomer Review: One of the Best Summary: 5 Stars
This review applies only to data storage and not video. In fact, DVD+RW is more suitable for data storage. For video application, DVD-RW is more suitable. I have been using this writing surface for data storage for the past three months. The reason I refrained from writing a review for this product sooner is due to my very bad experience with Memorex 16X-24X CD-RW in which all recorded data( 15 discs in all, ie 15 out of 15 ) would become unrecognizable within a few weeks. The Verbatim DVD+RW is a reliable surface. So far I have not had a coaster, or encountered writing error during burning, or unexpected loss of recorded data. Some discs I have rewritten 10 times over while others I have appended new data to without erasing existing data on the disc, and the most important fact is the data stays and has not become corrupted. I highly recommend this disc for data storage because of its reliability. The price of this disc is slightly on the high side though. On a price per disc basis, the 30-disc spindle is more economical compared to the 10-disc pack and may be a better choice if one ever needs that many 4.7GB discs.
Customer Review: A great bargain Summary: 5 Stars
I have a 2009 MacBook Pro and these write with high degree of speed and reliability. I have used these to record music from iTunes, copy videos, and make ISO files. Every single DVD burn attempt was successful and flawless. I had an older Sony DVD-R and they were notoriously unreliable on the same MBP laptop.
I think the CD/DVD cases are definitely needed. Otherwise you will end up scratching your CD/DVD or have hard time finding a suitable CD/DVD jacket when you really need one.
I was able to burn a 3.3 GB worth of ISO files in less than 15 minutes. That is fast and would certainly fill most people's needs.
Do not bother with more expensive alternatives. These are cheap and good and you would probably be more than happy with the purchase.
For those who want to know, the difference between DVD-R and DVD-RW is that DVD-RW can erase and rerwite whereas DVD-R can only write once. The price difference is almost negligible and you should choose DVD-RW.
Customer Review: Verbatim rules when it comes to Data backup Summary: 5 Stars
I am going to start this way and tell you that i think Verbatim is the best DVD-Rom makers on the planet. The product states that all of the discs are stable rewriting performance for up to 1000 times. To clear that up that means that it can be wrote on and then erased for over 1000 times and it will still perform and no data lost. If you are storing some pretty important data you need this item. It has what Verbatin calls SERL. What this is is a special laying on the disc which only this unit type has and it is the best i have ever used in my life of copying data and pics to a CD. I have not had a coasters with anyone of this disc that i depend with my important data. One more thing it comes with a thick cassete to hold the DVD's not the thin ones. Even more protections.
Customer Review: Recommend choosing these over Memorex Summary: 5 Stars
5 stars might be optimistic after only a few weeks of using these, but they look high quality and seem to work well.
My old NEC ND-2500A burner using Nero wrote 1 or 2 of these at 4X as a test with no errors, but I generally back off by one speed, and write at 2.4X. No errors there, either, on the 4 discs I've written so far.
My JVC Lite-On XJ-HD166S player reads them without problems, but it's a more reliable player than the ND-2500A, so I'd expect that.
Inspection of these with a magnifying glass finds an unblemished writing surface, as opposed to the comparable Memorex discs with which I've had problems and that have tiny (less than .5mm or so) irregular blotches that are dull and darker, not as shiny as the rest of the disc.
Customer Review: Can't go wrong with Verbatim Summary: 5 Stars
Great DVDs, CDs - You can feel the quality, made by Mitsubishi Chemicals. Have used 50 DVD+R so far, played on different DVD players. Works Great. use Sonic software with it, it is simple to use.it is more expensive but worth it. No Coasters at all ! But don;t pay more than a $1.25-$1.50 per DVD+R.
