Customer Review: Comfortable Earbuds
Summary: 4 Stars

I was a little bit apprehensive after reading the reviews that these earbuds might be too Bass-y for my tastes. This however is not the case. They deliver a well balanced and crisp sound. They deliver the right amount of bass for bass heavy music, but it recedes nicely when listening to Bluegrass, folk, country, or more accoustic rock or jazz fare.

I primarily use these while doing yard work, and the uncomfortable pair that came with my Samsung MP3 player were too large for my ears and would hurt after a while. They also wouldn't stay in my ears very well, which lead to their demise when they fell out of my ears and got sucked into my leaf blower's intake.

So when looking to replace I wanted something within my (low) budget, that was well rated and would be more comfortable. The V-Moda Bass earbuds fulfilled all of these criteria. They're affordable at under $40.00. They are rated a best buy at CNET.com, and they come with three different sized silicon ear pieces so you can choose the most comfortable for your ears. And they don't fall out!

The only cons I have are that:

1.If you're looking for total noise cancellation (which I wasn't) you're not going to get it, though the depth at which you press the earbuds into your ear canal does make some difference in the amount of cancellation.

2. The flimsy cord has too much memory after you coil it around the little winding gizmo that comes with it, and it lacks the sliding collar of other models that helps to keep the split portion of the cord from tangling.
But overall, and at the price, a very good buy indeed.

V-MODA Bass Freq Earbuds - Bling Bling Black

Customer Review: Great Buds for the Price
Summary: 4 Stars

I picked these headphones up as replacement for some broken old Sony ones. They were a steal- I'm way impressed with them.

Construction:

The Good:
My favorite part of these headphones is that the screens inside of it are stainless steel- as compared to the paper-like screens with a hole in them with some lower quality buds. This makes the screens moisture and earwax resistant, and able to survive conditions that would make the paper buds on other buds fall apart. They are comfortable and don't tend to move around a lot. They came with a little V-shaped piece that you can wrap the cord around if you don't need the cord at full length, for say, using the device in an arm band.

The So-So:
The lettering for the Right (R) and Left (L) earbud is quite a bit small- so potential buyers with bad eyesight beware. But I had no problem with the letters, but I have 20/20 vision.

The Bad:
The whole earbud is plastic. It's more a matter of aesthetics than durability, though. Also, it is a straight jack- which is easier than an angled one to pull out, though I have yet to have a problem with that.

Sound Quality:

Great! The bass is great, but I have yet to have it give me a problem washing out or distorting the highs or mids. The highs are slightly washed out though, but to anyone who hasn't read this review and isn't trying to notice it won't tell. The solid fit in your ears block out outside sound quite nicely which further improves the quality of your music. Vocals come in nice and clear.

In summary, I give it a 4.5 out of 5. Great value and great sound quality. But these buds lose 0.5 stars on the construction. You shouldn't let it deter you from purchasing these great buds, though.

Customer Review: Great sound for the money
Summary: 4 Stars

I'll start with the biggest problem: these are indeed fragile. I broke the outer part of the stem of one of the earbuds trying to pry it out of packaging. This did not affect the works of the 'phone itself and was easily fixed with super glue. I used these for two years before one of the buds crumbled for good and the wire covering separated from the Y-junction, but I was very careful with them. It's really too bad they're plastic.

Comfort: Amazing. These are very small and relatively easy to fit. I could (and did) easily sleep with these on. They never became uncomfortable even after hours of listening. They're great at reducing engine noise on an airplane and you will hear zero crying babies.

The sound: Once I found the right fit, the sound was amazing--reasonably close to the much more expensive and uncomfortable v-moda vibes. The bass is beautiful, the mids decent, and after a break in period, there was a nice sense of depth to the music. They are much better, in my opinion, than the new dual-armature Apple canalphones at three times the price and Sonys that were twice the price. I did not get a sense of overpowering bass thumping as others reported, but I don't crank the volume either. The highs on the v-modas do not sparkle and after getting much higher quality 'phones (Shure 210) I realized I was missing a lot of the individual instrumental "voices".

You won't be able to tell excellent producing from average producing with the v-modas, but that is true of many lower-end earphones. They're still a lot of fun and are far better than anything I've heard under the $100 range, especially the standard Apple earbuds which cost more to replace. I may still buy another pair for when my Shures get a little too uncomfortable.

Customer Review: V-Moda overhyped these
Summary: 3 Stars

My brother got these for my birthday since I had broken my $10 sony earphones and $15 SkullCandy earphones. I was looking for a new pair that was both cheap and could last long and he got these, noticing that V-Moda was lauded by CNet and other sites and that the site claimed these were made to last long and take a beating.

What my brother didn't realize was that these are the cheapest earphones from V-Moda's website. As for sound quality, it was great. I'm not someone who needs studio-quality earphones/headphones so these worked for me. They beat the sony's and Skullcandy's by far and had really nice bass. The drivers were comfortable and the wire length was long enough for me to keep my iPod in my pocket. I typically listened to these about 6 days a week, from my 30 minute bus rides to using them at the gym for close to an hour to using these at home. So some days I would listen to them for as long as 3 hours.

They've lasted around 5 months. What really ticked me off is that about 2 months from when I got them, the earpiece split in half, but I just had to connect them back together. I was relieved that it wasn't permanently broken, but ticked off that thats how it was put together - by just clipping the two halves of the earpiece together. They could have at least glued them together. About a week ago the 3.5mm connector broke off. I looked to see if I could try fitting it back in but this one looked like it had been glued in. I am extremely unhappy with the crappy build of this product and that it lacks durability despite V-Moda emphasizing it.

Overall, I would recommend buying a higher-end version of these from V-Moda, anywhere from $30-50. You'll end up saving money since those will last you years.

Customer Review: V Moda- The way to go
Summary: 5 Stars

First, off, this is probably my most expensive and highest quality headphones I have bought to date, upgrading from a pair of Sony Behind the neck (MDR42 I think??). This is one of the best headphones any one could buy for a sub 50 dollar range. Although many reviewers rave about sound quality, I found something else that made these headphones worth every penny: the noise blocking. Since they are in ear headphones, they block a good percent of the sound, so when you are walking down the street, its easier to listen to music on lower volumes, and the cars passing by you sound only as if a gentle wind is blowing past you. Off course, if you are looking for real noise isolation, these aren't going to be enough, but it delivers enough for the average person who wants more than the crappy ipod earbuds.
The sound quality was good, producing pretty strong bass and pretty good balance. I've noticed the source of the music impacts the amount of bass, and these have to be the match for the ipod. They even come in matching colors for your player This is more than you can would expect from any headphones this cheap.
Pros
-good noise reduction
-comfortable in the ear
-nice colors that match your player
-sound quality very good
-cheap
-outstanding value
-good bass compared to other headphones
-comes with 3 replaceable inserts to fit every ear

Cons
-sometimes collects earwax inside insert, not a big deal though, easily cleaned

As you can see, the pros heavily out way the cons. I would recommended this to any one who wants more than the ipod headphones. I would gives these headphones a 9/10, or 4.5/5.
