It's a nice I-POD clone. Plays mp3s, wmas, and oggs, not to mention amv videos. With 4GB of room, it is a steal at this price. The screen is vibrant and it is so small you can take it anywhere. The battery lasts a very long time, so you should have hours of continuous play. You can also listen to and record FM radio straight to mp3! Very cool.
It is not perfect, however. The menu navigation system leaves a lot to be desired. It can be hard getting to a music folder you want to play. The navigation menu can take a while to load the list of songs in the current folder. The player will also "time out" after a few seconds of inactivity, even if the player is retrieving song lists. This can be very frustrating, but all you have to do is continue pushing the center button while a folder is loading. You can then select the desired song to play, and the menu will not "time out" on you.
As far as sound quality, it is very good, but I thought that my CD player sounded slightly clearer, with a tad more oomph. However, I am not sure if this is due the compression used on my player, as I was comparing a high quality *.ogg file to the original CD.
I also wish the volume went higher. Sometimes the volume isn't loud enough, depending on the audio file. For a while I seriously considered purchasing a mini amplifier just for this reason.
To wrap it up, this is an excellent mp3/wma/ogg/amv player at a fraction of the price you would pay for an IPOD. Great product, great value. I give it five stars, despite the few flaws I have here.
And as an added note, if you plan on playing videos with this player, I highly recommend the ByteEssence "MpxConverter." It makes amv conversion a snap in both Windows and Linux.
