The loudness of this telephone is great, the large numbers and buttons are easy to read and to push, and the caller ID works great, the ringer is loud. The only thing wrong is that if you are using it while the batteries go dead, there is almost no warning, and worse, when it goes dead it seizes the line. OK if you know about it, just put it back on the charger right away and all will be OK. But if you don't, nobody will be able to call you, and you won't be able to call out no matter which phone in your house you try. This is potentially dangerous. If you had an emergency, and needed to dial 911, and didn't know about this problem, your life would be potentially lost because you can't even get a dial tone.Customer Review: Good spare for hearing or vision impaired

I bought this phone in addition to the Uniden CEZAI998 5.8 GHz Cordless Phone with Corded Base and Digital Answering System. I was trying to make sure my elderly mother would always have handset handy, and figured that having two different technologies would make it more likely that if one went out the other would be working. This phone, like the combo, has the boost for high pitched tones that Mom doesn't hear well and the crisp black letters labeling the ringer, and the visual (red light) ringer on base and handset. Sound was great although it can be interfered with by other electronics in the house. I solved the interference by plugging it in to another outlet. I bought this for my mother-in-law, with an emphasis on IN-LAW.
The problem with all the other phones, is that she could not travel around her cave, at the speed aided by a walker, without losing the signal.
Lower frequency, longer range.
ET 101.
That's it.
No more calls sayiing "Well it's nice but I can't hear when I'm"........fill in the blank.
Aside from the obvious,"Don't go there when your on the phone!" I got her the 900mhz Uniden and the calls stopped.
If you or anyone that you know is so afflicted, buy this phone, or ear plugs.

This phone fit the bill.

This phone is GREAT!! I wear glasses and have low vision, but do not need one of those giant BIG button phones, well this phone is superb, the buttons are big, but not too huge. heck, they look normal size to me, not so teeny-tiny like all the phone makers are making them nowadays lol. and that is what i was looking for. the 2nd plus, is that you can actually cleaarly read the caller i.d. area, it too, is larger. thirdly, as an extra bonus, the audio on the phone is adjustable. i'm not hard of hearing yet, i'm only 49, but do have one ear that is better than the other. well now i can adjust the volume to fit both ears comfortably. all in all, this is a superb phone and i heartily recommend it!Customer Review: Problem Solved

When my 86 year old Mom recently bought a new phone, it was unfortunately very difficult to understand her as the voice quality of it was dismal. I debated for weeks thinking that if I sent her a replacement it might offend her, but finally I decided to take the risk because our almost daily conversations were becoming an exercise in total frustration.
So I bought her this phone after reading all of the other reviews of it. And WOW! Problem solved! And as it turns out not only can I hear her every word, she now can hear me....seems she was struggling with the other phone too. So do it! And I'm thinking of buying two more for her elderly sisters as well! Excellent product.
