Customer Review: Great basic phone and those hearing impaired

I'm not hearing or visually impaired but when my 2.4 Ghz phone was interfering with my wireless router I went looking for a 900 Mhz to replace it. I don't like all the useless extras that are on most other phones and I like a phone where I can turn off the ringer if I want to. This phone is great because I can turn the ringer off yet still know when I'm getting a call as it has an indication on the base and the handset. The keypad is not over large and the caller ID is on the handset and not the base. I've had it over a year and I'm getting to the point where I need to get another battery but I see me keeping this phone until I can't get a battery for it anymore. I've had other models of Uniden phones in the past and have always been very satisfied with their products.Customer Review: Phone Great for hard of hearing folks.

This phone is wonderful for folks who are hard of hearing and want an easy to opperate phone. I bought the phone for my mom, who is 85 years old. She didn't like smaller phones that didn't reach from her ear to her mouth and couldn't seem to get them turned off after a call. She has had no problems with this phone and she can't miss hearing it ring either. The phone has amplification, so she can hear the entire conversation. The light on the phone flashes and you can adjust the ringer to different sounds and see which one they can hear the best. The phone has been a perfect solution and I thought the cost was very reasonable compared to some of the phones on websites of tools for elderly people. My son found this phone on Amazon. This cordless fone is just the one that I have been looking for -- for years. It is cordless, has a choice of 2 ringtones, each with a high/low setting -- or you can turn ringer off entirely. The best thing, though, is the light that flashes when the telephone rings; so you can have the ringer off and still see the flashing light. The base also flashes -- and it's not a tiny flash .. it's really visible from across the room. You can carry on a conversation without the annoying ring. I understand that this telephone is basically for the hearing or visually impaired, but believe me, anyone would be happy with it.
And -- it is caller ID capable, has a redial button, 10 number memory, emergency button, etc.
It is an exceptional product !!!!

The phone works well. The buttons are large. The lighted LCD screen stays that way. Seems to allow one to talk for awhile before the battery runs down. The message indicator makes one think there is a police car with red lights flashing in the house so there's no way to miss that. My one criticism is that it's a bit complicated. I still haven't figured out how to review the numbers on my caller ID--I'll have to dig out the manual and try to understand that--I went through it once and it worked, but it's more complicated than most phones that I have had. The ringer rings so loud that it wakes up the entire neighborhood and thus far I have been unable to make changes in that. However, in terms of basic features, seems sturdy and reliable.Customer Review: Hard to See

I bought this phone for my visually impaired mother hoping see would be able to see the caller ID number on the display. Good idea but not happening. The name and number display is so poor she can't see it at all. The contrast between the name and number and the background is terrible. In addition when the phone is hung on the wall to allow the display to face outward it is very difficult to hang the phone in the cradle. The phone must be positioned perfectly to catch the latch or hook that holds it otherwise it will fall out. That is not easy for anyone that has poor vision and made even more difficult for someone with artrithis. The only reason I didn't return the phone is it has a loud ringer that lights up.
