Customer Review: I Love this phone!

Finally, a phone that meets all of our needs. We got this phone from Uniden to replace one from GE we had for the last 10 years. We are not hard of hearing, but wanted a good sized phone with big buttons and no static or beeping to interrupt our calls. We also prefer the rich sound that the analog phones offer compared to the digitals. This phone is great. Wonderful sound quality and no interference at all.
First, we first tried a phone from Walmart that was a 5.8 GHZ and it made all sorts of beeping noises during the call. We took that one back and tried an analog 2.4 from G.E. because we had had great luck with our 900 Mhz from G.E. That's the one that we've had for the last ten years. Unfortunately, apparently the 2.4 GHz phones must be on the same frequency as our TV and answering machine. We got so much static if we were near the TV that we could not hear the caller. When we took the phone to the next room to hear the call, it would start to beep. We had to send that one back to Amazon. The transaction was very easy, but we still had no phone to use in that room.
When we got this one, we both crossed our fingers and hoped. It was exactly what I had hoped for.
I highly reccommend this product!

I purchased this phone for my 89 year old mother who is both hard of hearing and has macular degeneration (cannot see well). She cannot hear a regular phone bell (set at the loudest setting) and cannot hear the doorbell. She is very finicky about looks and does not trust new technology. However, this phone was an instant hit. She can hear the phone ring and see the light. She also likes the looks of the phone. I too can now hear the phone in the garage, which I couldn't with our regular phone, making it a plus for me. The only issue (as discussed in previous reviews)is her uncertainty with pushing the talk button when done. However, she has not yet failed to do so and has become quite comfortable with the phone. The tone quality and clarity of the phone is excellent. The keys are easy to operate. We rarely take the phone great distances so I cannot comment on the range, but we have had no disappointments with it. This is one of the best phones designed for seniors yet. I highly recommend it if you have trouble hearing the bell on your current phone, and want a good reliable cordless phone.
P.S. This is the first birthday gift I bought her that she didn't return in 10 years - that says something by itself!

This phone is my mother-in-law's & her 2nd one. (The first one lasted many years but she smokes A LOT & didn't like it being so yellowed & dirty looking so I bought her a new one. Otherwise the first one was in perfect condition still. The light on top of the handset and on the base is a great feature as my MIL is slightly hard of hearing and when the TV is loud she sees it ringing. And she has macular degeneration so she doesn't see very well (but can easily see something lighting up) so the keys being backlit with black numbers is helpful. The volume adjustment on the handset is very helpful for her, too.
Great features, great performance and long lasting- even when doused with smoke for years! (If you don't know this, smoke builds up on things and feels sticky to the touch after a while... that can get in the insides of the phone, the ear piece holes, etc... yet this phone still functioned very well. )
My only desire would be for the number keys to be a little larger and the numbers bigger and bolder for people with "low vision".

I bought this phone for it's 900 MHz feature which doesn't interfere with our wireless network or other electronic equipment - or should I say they don't interfere with this phone. We have a 5.8 MHz Uniden that has a short range due to the wireless interference, according to the Uniden tech support I spoke to. I am not elderly but still appreciate most features.
The cons:
-No speakerphone.
-Can't use the phone when sitting on base - needs to be charged to use.
-When dialing, the tone when dialing out is very loud - painful to the ear. The audio boost feature is off.
The pros:
Large buttons, easy to push with long nails
Has a input jack to use headphones with (they don't come with phone)
Easy to change volume while in call
I had few phones to choose from in the 900 MHz range, so the only thing that would lead me to buy another 900 MHz would be if it had a speakerphone, a full featured base, and expandable handsets.

My 91-year-old dad is a little hard of hearing and occasionally doesn't hear the phone ring. This phone is great because the ringer is LOUD and the phone and base light up and flash when phone rings.
Plus the "find my phone" feature is great. Let's say your phone is under a pillow. Phone is ringing. Phone is temporarily lost. Go to the base and press "find my phone" or whatever the button says and the phone starts loudly BEEPING for 60 seconds. The answering machine has picked up by this point but the beeping continues for 60 seconds. If you still can't find the phone in those 60 seconds, you call your number with your cell phone, hear the phone ring, press the magic button on the base, and continue your hunt. It's a loud beep so believe me, you'll find it.
GREAT PHONE AND REASONABLE PRICE.
