I bought this as a gift for my dad for Father's Day-he needed a new scanner for the Nascar races we go to each year.
I think it's almost better than the one he gave me!
We haven't used it yet - next race isn't until Labor Day weekend, but just by testing it out, it seems like a great scanner. It's sleek and easy to carry around, and if you don't have earphones, the speaker on the scanner itself works really well.
Great product for a great price!

I bought this scanner to use for aviation. I actually bought it for my wife since I fly on the C130 and so she could hear us talking to the tower and leaving and then hear us when we come back from our mission. I only give it 3 stars because you can hear the tower good but the planes don't get picked up as good. I don't know if it needs a better antenna or what but I am sure it works good with land based radio frequencies if that is what you want to use it for.Customer Review: Great Scanner!

I bought this scanner to help me with the work I do shooting news. It's a great scanner! VERY VERY Easy to use and to program. The price was right and regular alkaline batteries have a long lasting life. I've been on the same set of batteries for a few days now and the scanner is still running. I gotta admit, I was reluctant to get it because of those negative reviews but I am glad I bought it. The audio comes across very clearly. I was shocked when this arrived and saw it was a " NASCAR " scanner. Granted the scanner may work wonderful, I will never know, and sure I could get a case to cover it, but I want this on my desk, I don't want to pay good money for a big surprise LOGO on the scanner.
Not that im against Nascar, I just don't want it on my desk and on my scanner. They should of mentioned that in the ad.
This one is going back.

I got this for my 11 year-old son who absolutely loves it. He monitors local fire, police and ambulance dispatches mostly.
Easy to program after reading the instructions, but not exactly intuitive to program if you haven't done it for a bit. Good local reception or from any strong base station, though some distant mobile broadcasts don't pick up.
The batteries recharge in the unit which is very convenient.
