I have owned this scanner for over two months. It's sensitivity, scanning speed and clarity are outstanding. I have dropped this scanner many times on concrete and other hard surfaces thinking it is now broken....it was sill perfect. I recommended this scanner to my friends who have now purchased one for themslves. Everyone is impressed.
I would recommend MAHA 2700 maHr rechargable batteries for the best performance and dependability.
I have no complaints about this scanner.
Uniden now has a carrying case for this scanner which I would also recommend.

I bought this scanner it only has 8 hrs of battery life! If you were planning to buy this scanner dont because its no good im going to be returning my scanner and getting every penny back! When despatch goes over the scanner all you can here is the person driving the emergency truck or car so you dont know were the street address is! Im Warning you not to buy this Scanner its poor! And in the middle of the night it will wake you up with some loud noise so if you dont want to be woke up because of some loud noise dont get this Review: Davey's Scanner ReviewSummary: 5 Stars The Uniden BC72XLT Handheld Scanner is the first scanner I have ever owned. It performs better than expected. I say this because living in a mountainous area the distance the scanner picks up a signal has been excellent. I'm also pleased that I opted for the handheld. I had no idea I would be wanting to listen to a scanner so much. The size of this handheld makes it very easy to carry around. I use rechargeable batteries which have held a charge better than expected. (I rarely turn the scanner off.) Price was also very reasonable.

I did indeed place the order for this item from Amazon on 1/24/09. Currently it is March 2, 2009 and the item is still backordered. So far, I'm pretty unhappy regarding this. I didn't get notification of the delay until well after the order had been placed. And when I sent an email requesting information I got an email reply back stating they didn't know when it will be coming. Pretty disappointing. Up until now I had nothing but good experiences with Amazon. I'm hoping this is an oddity and not a sign of things to come.Customer Review: very good scanner

Bought this scanner for monitoring railroad talk so as to get better photos. It works very well
even on the rubber duck antenna it comes with. Volume and clarity are also very good. I thought in the description
it said it was preprogramed for railroad freqs but it is not. As I travel all over the country and into Canada
to take pictures, I had to manually program in all 98 railroad freqs. Other than that one minor problem
I feel it is a very good product and I hope to get many hours use from it.
