Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Ultralast UL-BP511 Canon BP-511 Equivalent Digital Camera BatteryCustomer Review: Defective battery did not even fit my Canon camera Summary: 1 Stars
I orderd this battery and should have learned not to buy 3rd party batteries for Canon. It had a lip on it that prevented it from even fitting in my camera. Because we were leaving on a trip the next day, i had to go out to Best Buy and pay full retail for a Canon battery.
I returned the battery in August, now over 30 days ago and have not received my refund yet. There has been no contact from the vendor since I sent in the battery. Customer Service seems to be a low priority at Blue Grass Battery (or Battery Jack).
Customer Review: The best deal for BP-511 batteries Summary: 5 Stars
At the price I paid I had second thoughts about buying these batteries. I got a used Canon 10D and the batteries that came with it (Canon BP-511A's) would only last about 100 shots. I'm usually apprehensive about buying non-Canon parts, especially lenses, but I went ahead and tried two of these and I'm extremely satisfied. For one thing, the batteries I got are 2000 mAh. The Canon BP-511A's I replaced are only 1390 mAh, so you're getting more power at a very reduced cost. Shipping was fast too. Highly recommended!
Customer Review: Poor-quality knockoff of the real thing Summary: 1 Stars
This is an "equivalent" battery only in the sense that it is the same shape and size of the real thing.
This battery, as I found out, weighs only about half as much as the OEM battery, and only holds enough of a charge to fire my Canon 2 or 3 times before dying.
I assumed that the charger was bad, and ultimately ended up purchasing a new battery directly from Canon before narrowing down the problem to this battery.
I guess you get what you pay for.
I would NOT recommend this product.
Customer Review: Long lasting, but has some quirks Summary: 4 Stars
This battery has a super long use-life compared to the previous Canon battery that I had. I actually forgot my charger at my in-laws in January. It's now April and I've had to charge it twice (luckily, a friend lets me borrow his charger). We use the camera all the time, too.
One odd thing is that when I accidentally bump the battery cover on the camera, sometime the camera turns off and on again. Its a nuisance, but it doesn't happen enough for me to rate the item any lower than "I like it."
Customer Review: Great Replacement, Should've Ordered Two Summary: 5 Stars
Like anyone, I was hesitant about replacing a $70 Canon battery with the $5 Ultralast. Since my SLR is several years old, it seemed worth the risk. The battery works great, and charges in my old Canon charger. It was perfect timing, just as my Canon battery started to not be able to hold a charge (after 30,000 shots, btw). I can't speak for longevity yet, but for $5, it's still a great value if it makes it for a 1/3 of the life of the original battery...for the price, I should've ordered an extra.
