Customer Review: I have no problems with these. Maybe I got lucky?
Summary: 5 Stars

Maybe I got lucky. I've used about 60 out of the 100 pack, and all of them were perfect.

I got these for the Wii and the XBOX 360 controllers. And they always come up with full bars, and they never start fading prematurely. When I'm using the Wii regularly (2-4 hours a day), the batteries start fading after a week. I've seen the batteries in the Wii go dead after no use countless times, but this happened all the time with Duracell batteries too. Its the fault of the controller. I got tired of expensive Duracell batteries going dead after one small session with the Wii controller. So I figured I'd get the cheap ones, and not care about the Wii burning batteries when I'm not using it because these are so darn cheap.

Forget about these reviews and just try them out. You can try a smaller pack. They also sell these at Frys Electronics, and if they are really that bad as some of these comments say (half dead out of the box which is absurd and not true in my case), you can definitely return them. Worst case scenario you lose a few bucks. Best case scenario you save a lot of money. Until I get a bad batch, I'm a customer for life. I won't buy any other brand these days for my game controllers and remotes.

I understand that there is a tradeoff and there will be some inconsistancies with quality control, but for 1/4 to 1/2 the price I am not expecting military grade.

Customer Review: Actually check voltage & ability to re-use
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought the 100 pack and have no problems so far. I found a wierd way to check AA batteries besides just guessing at how long they last. When they're done, I recharge them even though they're not supposed to be rechargable. Using the ultralast in a toothbrush, the 2 AAs lasted as long as others using the "guessing" test. When they slowed up, the voltage was 1.42, about the same as others, they recharged to 1.6 & 1.57 volts and am resuing them (new batteries are 1.61 to 1.62 volts if fresh). The recharged ones have great power and will last almost as long as new ones. Past tests like this indicate that Duracell batteries are much, much better than other batteries but cost a lot more than 20 cents. You'd think they were rechargeables but can be recharged at least twice or more. Ray o Vacs are also good batteries and can recharge one or 2 times. Everyready silver are the worst by far, most are dead after the first use and can't recharge. Since most people don't recharge, buy the Ultralast, because they're good enough and just throw them out when done.

Customer Review: Low Battery Life
Summary: 1 Stars

I've gone through a box of these and will never buy more of this brand. In fact, it has been kind of a lesson for me in buying cheap batteries. They simply do not last. I've haven't done formal testing testing, but my wife says that her electric toothbush eats these up twice as fast as a name brand battery. I've had some batteries leak on me recently. I didn't pay attention which brand, just threw them out. But given the number of complaints that people have been having about leaking batteries, it's a pretty good bet they were the ultralast.

When we have guests staying over, I often supply batteries when they need them. The last time a guest needed a pair of AA's for her camera. Normally one uses a better quality battery than AA Alkalines for cameras, but I've used them in a pinch when nothing else is handy. Not the Ultralast. The camera was dead as a doornail -- didn;t have the oomf to even operated the camera.

Customer Review: Good for the money
Summary: 4 Stars

For alkaline batteries, they perform like any other out there. Alkalines don't work well in tech devices, they tend to drain fast, and these seem no different. At worst, I use these in flashlights and wireless mice. The mouse I use most (which is about 8 hours a day) will last about 3 months on these. My higher demanding devices (cameras, media players, etc) use NiMH or LiIon batteries, which are much better suited for those devices and are a much better value for them.

These 100 batteries cost about the same as 20 of the big name brand batteries of the same type. The DOA rate seems higher than the big name brand, but probably not by much and I still come out way ahead on value. In my last 100 pack, I had maybe 4 DOAs. I'm not sure of the rate on the big name brand batteries since I don't buy them in bulk.

I have not kept any of the DOAs to test their guarantee. I did not feel it was worth it.

Customer Review: You Need a Battery Meter if You Buy This Bundle
Summary: 1 Stars

This would be a good value if all the batteries in the bundle held a proper charge. Unfortunately, many of the batteries do not have a sufficient charge to be useful. In the package I bought, about 30 of the 100 had a full charge. The rest were below 50%. Also, a number of the batteries leaked, which is a potential cause of damage. Those batteries that had a full charge and did not leak performed well, but it is too much risk, in my opinion. Fortunately, no device I have received damage from these batteries, but I came close with a wireless keyboard where a couple of batteries leaked. I will not be purchasing another package of this brand again. Oddly enough, though, the AAA Ultralast batteries do not seem to have the leakage problem, but I still have about 3/4 package left. I will be keeping a watchful eye on them too.
