This is a great little device and it does what it advertises. I can't say it does it any faster than standard USB charging, but it does charge nonetheless. On an iPod Touch 2nd Gen. it is pretty much only good for one charge and then you need to put in another set of batteries. I still find this a better option than a built-in battery because you can find AAs anywhere and not to mention rechargeable AA NIMH batteries. Why AA NIMHs are a better option? Well you can get them in two flavors: 1.) Regular that take a bit to charge and 2.) Fast Rechargeable NIMHs that can usually be charged in 15 minutes. I don't believe any built-in battery devices can recharge in 15 minutes. So charge your batteries in 15 minutes and you got a backup ready when needed.
I don't have anything else to add because most of the other reviews have covered it. I just wanted people to know that it does work with an iPod Touch 2nd Gen. and I highly recommend it.

I purchased this charger to prepare for a recent trip I was taking that required a 5 hour plane ride. I have an iPod Touch and I knew it wouldn't last for the whole flight without some backup charge. This charger did the trick; half way through the flight, the iPod registered as being 20% of battery levels, so I just plugged the Turbo Charge in, turned it on, and waited 10 minutes or so for it to charge. Then my iPod levels were high enough to continue for the rest of the trip. I also like the charger because it allows me to use rechargeable AA batteries, so I just brought a bunch of pre-charged batteries on the trip with me and had enough power for the full trip.
I should also note, my friends used this charger on their iPods and it worked on an iPod Classic (video), and iPod touch 1st generation and iPod touch 2nd generation with no problems.

Excellent product - A must-have for anyone with an ipod or cell phone. I've used this several times since my ipod battery only lasts for about 4 hours. I love it since all you do is plug it into the ipod and you can continue listening to your music. Since it uses 2 AA batteries - just bring extra batteries and you'll never lose the ability to listen to your ipod or use your cell phone. However, you probably won't need the extra batteries since they last pretty long. I leave my ipod plugged in to this charger for several hours without needing to change the batteries. The three blue lights on top will show you how much power your batteries have remaining. You can also use this device to see in the dark since there is a small flashlight at the front. The purpose of this device was to be able to make my IPod battery last longer. This device works perfectly. The device uses two AA batteries. The wire plugs into the bottom of the IPod, not the headphone jack, therefore you can keep listening to music while charging your IPod. This works wonders for long plane rides. On an average use my IPod the battery only lasted an hour or two. When the battery is on low use I can plug the portable IPod charger into my IPod and it has always made my IPod last until I get to my destination. A friend of mine has a different type of Portable IPod charger. After a few weeks of use his Portable IPod charger started keeping the battery alive for less and less time. Unlike this portable IPod Charger, which is constant at keeping the IPod working.Customer Review: great charger

after i bought a griffen ipod charger which uses the 9volt batteries which broke i saw this one, bought it, and it works great
uses 2 AA batteries (a lot easier to come by than 9V) and keeps my ipod going
the connector can detach from the unit itself too, so i dont have to worry about bending it and possibly messing up the wires
only complaint about it is the switch, toward the plug is to turn on LED lights, middle is off and reverse is charge. it slips between the three too easily, ill have it in my pocket in off, and when i pull it out to use it, its in the charge setting or has the LED lights on (but since they're LEDs, they dont drain much power so its fine, just annoying)
other than that, its great
