I resisted the marketing hype that was urging me to pay a lot of money for my fiber optic digital cables, and I couldn't be more satisfied with this product.
The sound is great for these cables - I am linking two cables between my Home Theater receiver, and my external CD player and DVD player/recorder, respectively.
The combination of the Onkyo HT-SR800 and these cables has netted me awesome sounding digital audio for my music and movies.
These come highly recommended...especially at this price!

Tripp Lite optical cable carries digital signal without any perceptible losses and connections make up nicely. Had this cable on my Samsung DVD player to Logitech Z-5500 speaker system and the sound was very clear. I now run this cable from my PS3 to the Z-5500 speakers and sound is just as clear which I guess really validates both of my players but without a good interconnect then sound would suffer. Certainly would recommend this cable and I'll probably buy another one if I can find a reliable splitter.Customer Review: Perfect and inexpensive

I got this item for 48 cents...go figure, must have been a mistake. I should have bought 10. It works fine and is well constructed. There is not reason to buy high end digital audio cables for short distances. The box stores will try to get you to buy better cables because of lost signal. This a pile of crap. It is a digital signal and it is either there or not. The only time you loose quality is if you run long distances like 20 feet or more. This cable is perfect for 99% of all installations.Customer Review: Great cable, great price

What did I pay for this cable - $2 or $3? You always wonder if the cables you can buy cheaply on Amazon will work as well as what you would buy at Best Buy or even Wal-Mart for 5 times the price.
I no longer worry about that, as I am completely satisfied with the quality and performance of the cable. I'm not an audiophile, so maybe that makes a difference, but I will never buy another audio, HDMI, USB or other cable anywhere else. Great price, great quality and quick service.

I have two of these, one for my cable box to receiver and one from my DVD player to my receiver. They work just great. It's just the right amount of money spend for reliable, well made cables.
I had purchased two Vortex cables and they were so skinny, they look like toys. So I saved $1 or so, but the cables look like little cheapy cables. These Tripp Lite cables look like the $10 cables I see at Radio Shack or any other electronics store, and work as well.
