Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of TomTom Travel Case for TomTom Portable Vehicle GPS DevicesCustomer Review: meh... save your money Summary: 3 Stars
My girlfriend and I just purchased a new PND, and thought it would be a good idea to get some kinda of case for it. We considered a few options: (1) use one of the existing cases/pouches we already have, (2) get a small/non-bulky case so we could toss it in a purse/backpack, (3) get a larger case to stuff all the related accessories into a single container.
Since we already have a variety of small cases/pouches, we opted for #3: the larger case. We ordered the TT Travel Case thinking that all the parts and pieces would fit nicely in the case.
Being the gadget geek that I am, I patiently waited the 9 days it took to get to us; diligently checking my Amazon "Where's my Stuff" page, and following the box via the shipping number.
Being that TT recommends this case for the device we ordered (tt330s), I thought it would be more of a 'custom fit'. It's not. It's basically a medium sized (about twice the size of a portable cd player) 'harder-sided' case w/ the TT logo on it.
Here's what I really didn't like about the case:
1. It's not a custom fit for the TT device
2. For as big as it is, there's not enough space for the TT, charger/cable, and mount -- let alone the manuals and stuff.
3. The case is too large to conveniently 'take with you' when you park the car.
For the price (~$30) I'd recommend (1) re-purposing a pouch/bag you already have; or (2) wait til you have your PND and all the accessories you want to pack in front of you, and then go get a generic case/pouch/bag from Target or Walmart ;)
Customer Review: A Complete Travel Case Summary: 5 Stars
When you first get this, it would have some odor (like paint) so you might want to air it out prior to first use.
This is my second one. I am using it for my new Tomtom 630; I bought it previously for my Tomtom One 3rd Edition. This fits both GPS and all my accessories. This bag comes with 2 soft cases for the GPS and another for any accessories you think require additional protection. I don't even use them. It will make the case bulky and possibly not fit everything I wanted to put in it. I also think the fact that it is a hard case is sufficient enough to protect it from breakage or shock from dropping the case. The carrying handle is very useful for me. The inner liner is so soft and should not scratch your GPS. I have my car charger on the zipped pouch, GPS and wall mount on the right side of it, then USB cable, wall charger with another USB cable on the side pocket. If you want your GPS and all your accessories in one place, this is the bag for you.
My second purchase had minor flaws on the outer fabric - Amazon replaced it quickly for me. The black fabric appeared to be wrinkled up and not glued flat. The replacement was perfect. Thank you, Amazon!
Customer Review: Perfect Case For The Money...Everything Fits Summary: 5 Stars
We recently purchased the TT Go 740 Live and wanted a case to hold everyting, i.e. GPS, chargers and mount.
1-When you physically shop all brick and mortar stores you find that there's not a lot out there and if you find something, it's pricey.
2-There's been other postings about whether it fits all the components and "yes" it does. (If you looking for a padded slot for each component, this case does not offer that). The GPS, mounting bracket and both chargers that come with the TT740 all fit in the TT travel case.
3-When we are traveling with our GPS and leave the vehicle, we will put all the components except the GPS away, we place the GPS in the larger 4.3 case and take it with us either in a pocket or my wife's purse.
3-Consistent with some of the other posts, we did notice a slight odor inside the case when it was first opened, but it has subsided after a week.
My parents recently bought a GPS and when they saw this case, they ordered one for their Garmin. :)
Great value, great price, holds everything!
Perfect, wouldn't change a thing.
Customer Review: Not useful Summary: 2 Stars
I thought I was ordering a the small soft case just for the TomTom but this larger case came instead. I decided to keep it, thinking it might be useful to have a larger case for all the accessories as well as the TomTom device and to have a hard case. It's not.
The main problems:
1. Not everything fits. It's too small to fit the TomTom 720, the car charger and the windsheild mount.
2. Construction is poor. The zipper closure is tenuous and I expect it won't last long. A hard case matched up with a zipper is not a good combination. Zippers belong on soft-sided cases. The case should have been designed with a latch.
3. It also came with a very strong petroleum odor that has not dissipated much and I've owned this for a month.
4. It's not designed for the TomTom; it's just a generic hard-sided case so the internal sleeves and pockets don't exactly fit the TomTom piecs.
The (few) good things:
1. It's a hard case so more protective than soft-sided cases
2. It includes a few internal sleeves and a two net pocket, so whatever you decide to put in it, stays in place.
Customer Review: Look carefully Summary: 2 Stars
The one great thing about this case is that it is probably the hardest out there - so gives the best protection. The however lies in the stiff U-shaped handle that is attached, which I see no sign of in the pictures. You have to move the handle up and then back in order to completely zip and un-zip the 2 zippers. The handle is so stiff that it is hard to hold either in your hand and there is no way you could put it around your wrist; it just stays this stiff, hard U-shape that will rotate up and then back down to fit around the case and get in the way of the zipper.
My other caution is, do not think that this is a red case, if you look carefully you can see it is just red lining, so don't think you are getting a case of a different colour.
As for storage it is just as good as most other cases; again as a however there are other brands out there, such as a case logic one I bought that has completely removable and pouches you can rearrange. It is not as hard-shelled as this one, but it still provides plenty of protection at a better price.
