I have two of these items. The first I purchased for my dad for Christmas 2008. I just purchased a second one as a gift for my husband. Neither has had the volume issue that several reviewers have noted. It's a great little GPS. Customer Review: Amazon Description Very Misleading

I can't find voice address entry functionality mentioned in the user guide or anywhere in the device. I bought this unit thinking I could simply speak my addresses aloud.

When I originally got the unit the volume was nearly inaudible. I called TomTom tech support and tried several fixes and updates with no luck in fixing the problem. They immediately offered to replace the unit. I know I could have contacted the retailer for a replacement but decided to get the replacement from TomTom. I have since talked to the retailer and am pleased with their concern. The new unit's volume is very good and I am very happy with the TomTom One 130S. I wanted a unit with text to voice at a good price and I am pleased with this purchase.Customer Review: Excellent entry level GPS with text to speech

This is an outstanding GPS device if you want something that's easy to operate without all the bells and whistles. I mean, who needs to view photos on their GPS?
Anyway, I've had this for almost one year. It hasn't failed me and the software is decent. You can enter your trips over the computer when you are hooked up with the USB.
Sure, there are more advanced models. Yes, I may get one later. But this is a solid GPS for the money.
