Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Timex T600B CD Stereo Clock Radio with Nature Sounds (Black)

Customer Review: Undependable and too hard touse
Summary: 1 Stars

After putting up with this Timex radio for way too many months, I'm back searching for a better quality, more user-friendly clock radio. It looks great, but the quality isn't there. Poor reception. Volume control is particularly bad -- hard to find a mid-level sound output. It jumps from too low to too loud, which can be incredibly annoying when you need a dependable alarm. Sometimes the sound was too low to wake me up; other times, the sound would blare out and wake up the whole household.

Worst problem is difficulty in setting the station pre-sets. After reading the insructions several times, the radio just proved unresponsive to my station settings. I'm extremely disappointed and would not recommend this radio to anyone.

Customer Review: About as disappointing as they come
Summary: 1 Stars

I have a few diferent alarm clock/radios - an older Panasonic and a new Aiwa. I bought this one for my kid and was very sorry. I ended up returning it. The reception was poor compared to the Aiwa and the only reason I tried the Timex was because it has a dimmer for the display. On its higher settings its like a beacon in the night, but to get it low enough so its not distracting when trying to sleep you have to turn it so low you can't read it!
The control panel is mediocre at best and you will probably spend a lot of time fumbling to set it or turn it off in the morning. Steer clear and grab the aiwa if you like this type product (my decade old Panasonic still beats them both, alas without any tape or CD features!)

Customer Review: Great options, crazy engineering
Summary: 4 Stars

It feels crazy to review a clock, but I must put in a good word for this wonderful clock radio. It does just about everything but make breakfast for you. There are nature sounds. It will put you to sleep by CD and wake you by radio. You can set two different alarms to accommodate different schedules. Sound quality is average, but what do you want in a clock radio?

My only beef, and it is a big one, is that whoever engineered this thing imagines that all users are mechanical geniuses. I have to get out the manual every time I need to reset something. It's simply not an intuitive interface and that does drive me crazy. Still, it's not enough for me to dissuade anyone from getting this funky gadget.

Customer Review: Good Value
Summary: 4 Stars

After using this clock radio for about 2 weeks, I am quite happy with it. The nature sounds are not perfect, but if you allow your mind to drift, they are easy to fall asleep by. The best recommendation is to get your favorite nature CD, and fall asleep to that (you can easily control all functions for wake-up and sleep modes).

The biggest problem with this clock is the display. The numbers are very large, but Timex chose their house technology (indiglo) instead of LED's. If you are blind without glasses, the backlighted display is hard to read.

That aside, it is a good value, and after reading the instructions once, the controls are very intuitive.

Customer Review: All functions do not work properly.
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased this CD clock radio just 2 weeks ago and have grown attached to it's look. It looks fancy in a bedroom, so I haven't taken it back. It does not let you program it to wake to nature sounds, and if you just want to play them, I cannot get it off of the "Ocean" sound to the other sounds. So I am waking to music, which is fine I guess, but it was alittle spendy just for a CD clock radio that the nature sounds do not work. If it wasn't for the techno-look of the machine, I would have returned it.
Addendum to review: I did end up taking it back after I could not play a CD on it or figure out how to wake to anything else but the radio.
