Customer Review: Not good enough...

I bought this clock about a year ago with high expectations. It markets itself well - nice design, great features, CD player, and other items, but I don't feel it has lived up to its potential. Biggest Problems:
*Blue background is hard to set to make the time both dark enough to sleep without a glowing blue light at you and bright enough to see clearly when waking up in the morning.
*Too many buttons on the front, too cluttered and not easy to use. Alarm clocks need to be simple to set, change and use - this one is not.
*Poor reception - weak intenna included is hard to get a signal while inside a building (and I am guessing this is where you plan to use your clock).
*Alarm - you cannot set this clock to wake you up by a regular alarm! You must choose radio, CD or nature sounds...not very user friendly.
Strengths -
*Several nature sounds to choose from to help you fall asleep
*Lots of pre-sets of radio stations
*Possibility to wake up to all three settings (nature sounds, CD, Radio)
Overall, I would say this is an overpriced clock radio, especially for the lack of quality - which is why I am online looking for a new way to start each day!

I am not an early riser. In fact, my attempts to awaken in time to get ready and arrive at work, are are a great source of humor for both family and and friends. So, it was with great trepidation I unwrapped yet another alarm clock this Christmas morning........I was pleased by the many options afforded by this compact clock/radio/cd. Nature sounds (which are very realistic and not overly intrusive)) cd player, radio with multiple preprogrammable AM and FM stations, a great alarm with varying volume. Sleep options are easy to set. You can awaken to any of the options or just a plain alarm. You can set the alarm for three different times....This is a great clock. It is easy to program and the lighted display is large enough to see with that early morning squint. Is it working? I am afraid I need an alarm that physically removes me from my bed and propells me toward a waiting shower( my husband has declined the job).....Alas, it is not to be. Until the alarm of my dreams is made I will depend on my Timex, which has worked admirably thus far.....OK, I overslept this morning, but the second clock I set across the room saved the day.Customer Review: Can I give it a negative 5 stars? I received this clock radio for a gift about a year ago and after going through several I still have the same problems (except now it is no longer under warranty). First, the CD player only lasts about 2 - 4 weeks before it quits. And this didn't just happen with the first one I bought but with the replacements, too!
The sound is OK - it's supposed to be stereo - but any stereo effect is lost with these speakers.
Finally, the indiglo dial is adjustable but is also unreadable without glasses if you need them.
The company that makes this product is not very helpful in getting a repair either. You have to send them money to look at it. They are unresponsive as well as a letter of complaint did not even receive the courtesy of a reply.
Their technical service is also "wonderful!" Their solution to fix the CD player before sending it in is to remove the batteries and unplug it. Let it sit a few minutes then replace the batteries and plug it back in. Reminds me of the old Dick Van Dyke show gag (for those of you old enough to remember) for "fixing" a defective phone.

I purchased this product because I needed a new clock radio and I liked that this one had a CD player and nature sounds. Well, those features are nice but the thing is IMPOSSIBLE to use! I am an engineer, so very tech-minded. I don't usually have any difficulty figuring out how to work things. But the buttons are poorly labeled and even if you can figure out what to do, it is very complicated. I had to keep the instruction book in my nightstand to figure out how to set the alarm! I put up with it for a little while and then eventually returned it. I was quite dissapointed because the nature sounds are really nice sounding, compared to other units with nature sounds. The quality of sound from the CD player is also quite nice. But it is just poorly designed and difficult to use - so I would not recommend it to anyone. If Timex gets enough complaints, maybe they can make a few improvements. In the meantime, I'm happy with my Sony Dream Machine...no nature sounds but it does have a CD player, so I got a nature sounds CD!Customer Review: too many flaws

I have owned this alarm clock for a couple of years now, and I regret to say, I am at long last in the market for something better. From day one, the clock would gain time, a couple of minutes per month. The cd player (which whined noisily when it started up) also stopped working long ago, and unfortunately, the cd player was the main selling point for me when I purchased this clock. The radio reception leaves a lot to be desired, depending on where I stand in the bedroom. My final complaint is that some (not all) of the functions are way too complicated to program without the manual, which disappeared a long time ago.Why 2 stars then? The one reason I have kept the clock far beyond its prime is that I love the nature sounds feature. I find now that I have difficulty falling asleep without the serene forest breeze whispering in my ears - I am a "soothing nature sounds" junkee. On another positive note, the alarm has been very dependable, aside from user error.
