Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Timex T600B CD Stereo Clock Radio with Nature Sounds (Black)

Customer Review: Indiglo sucks...and the rest of this unit does as well.
Summary: 1 Stars

EL lighting (often known as "Indiglo") is all the rage, but [it's bad]. Imagine being slightly near sighted and sleeping without your glasses on (I know, that's an unusual stretch). You look at the clock and what do you see? A faint blue spot hovering somewhere in the area of your night stand. I don't care what the brand is, every ... clock with EL lighting is a *BAD* idea. That's a generic comment about clocks. Now, specifically this clock: we bought ours and we're on our third now(which is also conveniently...broken!... The CD player on it doesn't last more than 3 weeks. And, when it does work it features a special bonus LOUD motor, free of charge! This provides an exciting mechanical noise as you enjoy listening to the CD player's spinning motor, or belt, or gears, or something...even over the music. Finally, the buttons are in [bad] places. The thing makes little, if any, sense. Besides that, press any button on the front panel and the whole unit slips back on your night stand. I'd recommend gluing the thing down so that you can use the buttons...except then how would you be able to ship it back for an exchange as _SOON_ as it breaks? Again. And again. Oh, one more thing, the "sounds" built into this thing would only impress someone looking for the "Best Electronic Device For Annoying Others". Those sounds could only be improved if they had added a choice called "leaky faucet".

Customer Review: Wonderful with minimal faults
Summary: 4 Stars

This alarm clock is rather wonderful.
* The sound quality of the CDs is good.
* It is a compact size compared to other CD alarm clocks.
* Though the nature sounds are rather cheezy, they can be relaxing at times.
* You can control the brightness of the display.

I do have a few problems with the alarm clock.
* Though I can be woken up by nature sounds, the radio, or a CD, I don't have the option of a buzzer.
* Also I can only be woken up by the first track of a CD.
* My third silly complaint is that when setting times, you can only go forward. This means that if my alarm is set for 7 and I want to get up at 6, I need to set it ahead 23 hours.
* Lastly, when I first got the alarm clock, my CDs tended to skip often, but they don't seem to do so anymore (yay)

One thing that is wonderful about this clock, and very useful, is the ability to listen to music quietly at night.
You can set the volume to be at 2/3 or 1/3 of the volume that you want to be woken up with.
This means that if I want loud music to wake me up, I don't have to fall asleep with music blasting in my ear, I can listen to it quietly.
Also, you can set the music to turn off at a certain time.

OVerall, despite it's expensive price, this is a good alarm clock

Customer Review: lousy
Summary: 1 Stars

My grandmother recently bought this clock as a birthday present for my brother, and I must say it seemed to be quite a deal. At first glance, it had it all - clock, four nature sounds, an alarm, and a cd player. What could beat that?

Upon the first test I discovered some very unsatisfactory points. The cd player has lousy (very) sound. There was no buzzer alarm on the model - you could only wake up to the nature sounds or the cd player. The nature sounds were rather nice, yes, but the instuctions were hard to decipher and it took me 10 minutes to get everything set. To top it off, a few minutes later the clock was accidentally pushed off its stand. When I picked it up, the clock was broken, and parts of it were smashed. Although it fell on a glass jug - and was bound to be broken anyway, I was very disappointed with this product. Almost everything my brother owns ends up on the floor atleast once every week. If this product broke that easily on a glass jar, just think of how easily it would break if it were dropped on the floor several times (by accident).

All in all this was a very bad buy and you could spend your money on something better. Please heed my advice though, if you've already purchased it. Be careful about dropping it on the floor, you could end up with a lot of wasted money.

Customer Review: From the Apartment Bedroom to the Dormitory...
Summary: 3 Stars

Well, I'm on the hunt for a new alarm clock--and not just because my desk lamp from Wal-Mart (rating 5 stars) melted the left speaker side of my Timex. Ever since the paint chipped off my Timex (by rubbing against my wall--my fault, and I've repainted it), I've had problems figuring out what button to use for the radio presets and the radio changer. Even when I could read the words on the clock, I had to use my manual to figure out how to use the clock. I've had no real problem with the display, but if the wheel that controls the lighting on the display is moved (like if it rubs against the wall), I can't read the display. As for setting the alarm with those buttons, I sometimes forget to press them off if I'm going to the gym at my college (at 5:45 am), which pisses off my neighbors. The CD alarm only works when the lid to the CD is closed, even if there's a CD in the CD player. I do like how the lid opens and closes by a spring mechanism, but I wish the CD player had a one-track song repeat feature. I also like the nature sounds, but they sound like they are forever on a loop (especially the forest and brook sounds). I wonder what white noise would have sounded like on this alarm clock...

Customer Review: Great product hobbled by a fatal flaw.
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this clock and enjoyed it for a few months. I enjoyed the nature sounds which are more pleasant than many competing products. I also liked the fact that I could keep the sounds on all night (great for those who wake in the middle of the night and want to be soothed back to sleep) but still wake to an actual alarm sound (a hard to find feature). It has dual alarms that worked well. It was solidly built and not unattractive. The radio and CD were functional which is all I ask of a procuct like this.

However, call me old-fashioned, but I like a clock that actually tells time! This clock was the most horribly out-of-synch clock I've ever owned. It was fast by about 3 minutes per week! This meant re-setting the clock every few weeks... not something you expect to do on ANY clock let alone one in this price range.

Unless you enjoy doing math when your alarm goes off (is it REALLY 6am? How many more snoozes do I take until it is truly 6AM in real life?) and resetting your clock every few weeks, skip this product. I now use this strictly for the soothing sounds and I don't even bother to set the clock anymore - it is about 45 minutes fast right now and climbing.
